As mentioned in another thread I got full access to every channel my new provide has on their list.
Yesterday I saw Interstellar-Seen it before, but it's one of the best sci-fi movie that have been made the last 2-3 decades. Tomorrow it's going to be Terminator Genisys and the Martian-Seen both before, a second look wouldn't hurt and the Martian was a good movie. Markus |

The Appleseed series have been on my radar for a while, will have to get around to them sometime, I think Hunter may have already watched through them, not sure.
With the recent death of Fidel, I'm reminded of an old favourite, Thirteen Days. It's got its flaws, Kevin Costners accent being one of them, but as far as a political-thriller goes, it ticks all the boxes, Rotten Tomatos gives it a 7.2/10, but sadly it bombed in the cinemas. There's not much in the way of action, and everyone knows how the film will end...but, it's seeing how it goes from looking like war is the only option to the eventual withdrawal of the missiles from Cuba. Bruce Greenwood does a good JFK and Steven Culp makes a fine Bobby, but Dylan Baker does a sterling role as McNamara and Michael Fairman is strikingly similar to Adlai Stevenson. I think that they took a bit too much of a liberty with figures like LeMay and the more militaristic side of the arguments surrounding the decisions made during the crisis, but to be fair, I could see those types making arguments in favour of counter Soviet aggression with aggression, but...eh, politics. Plus, it's not very often in film that you get to see the venerable F8 Crusader in action: |

Quote:
I've yet to watch Alpha as at the time of release I couldn't find a Japanese copy and I watched the other two in the same language (however the voice actors of one of the main characters have changed even between the 2004 and Ex Machina Films), the other thing being from what I could gather without spoiling too much is that the story isn't a prequel because the manga it's based on is in itself a spin-off from the 2004 movie so some things what goes on and happened between the main characters is being ignored. I also have yet to watch the 1988 film of Appleseed, I didn't bother it with the the time as it wasn't based on the manga and only shared the characters but might do so one of these days out of curiousity. I can recommend the 2004 and Ex Machina films, the series XIII however not so much.

Run Away From Arrival
My family and I went to see the movie Arrival starring Amy Adams. Amy has done some wonderful work but not this time.
Ms. Adams plays a linguistics professor who is asked to try to learn to communicate with space aliens. Now I don't know about you guys but about the only occupation more boring then linguist would be actuary. The movie is way to long and confusing. I could say more about Arrival but I do not want to give away any spoilers in case any of you want to see this stinker. My best advice is don't waste your time or money on this junk. One other thing I do not wish to imply that Amy Adams is in any way responsible for this turkey; I blame the writers and director for this dog.
