Perky isn't an adjective I'd use to describe over-the-Hillary Clinton these days.

No worries; it happens to us all. It used to be so very difficult to find the real truth behind the public presentations of those in the political arena, but, now with the Internet, it is getting more and more difficult for the political spinmeisters to ply their trade. What is truly amusing is seeing or reading the denials in situations such as the ACN and Jeffrey Epstein cases and observing the blatant lies in the face of the presentation of previous facts; it brings to mind the old SNL Martin Short sketches where he would play a character named Nathan Thurm who, as spokesperson for some political or corporate entity would be questioned regarding a scandalous situation and Thurm, sweating profusely and chain-smoking, would deny the scandal even when presented with documentation; the real kicker was when he would start to deny his denials...
A couple of things came to mind this weekend regarding Trump and his "popularity" with GOP voters. Much has been said about Trump bring in greater numbers of GOP registered voters, but how many of those new voters actually voted for Trump and how many registered solely to vote for other GOP candidates in an effort to derail Trump? It would be interesting to see a breakdown of the newly registered voters' preferences... Additionally, Trump is now backpedaling on some of his strongly held selling points; the strident call for exclusion of all Muslims from entry to the US is now toned down to a "suggestion"; the defiant stance of being self-funded, self-sufficient and not accepting big donor money so as not to be beholden in a quid pro quo situation as are so many mainstream politicians, i.e., "I'm the outsider", has also gone by the way. There are many GOP voters who, in the earlier primaries, voted for Trump based on their approbation of Trump's stances: with the various about faces now emerging from the Trump camp, how many of those who voted on the basis of what they felt were Trump's selling points, and who are now disappointed, how many of them will continue to support or vote for Trump now that he has "betrayed" them? The Trump they voted for in the previous months is not the Trump running now... <O>

The new mayor of London called Trump's proposed ban on Muslims "ignorant" to which he has replied "Let's take an IQ test". Donald Trumplethinskin has also made the veiled threat that the U.S. will have poor relations with the British and their government officials if he's elected, because he doesn't like the nasty things that they are saying about him over there. Yet, when Obama talks of potential complications in forming trade agreements with the UK if they Brexit, Trump immediately and lavishly promised that Britain would get top priority and all the best deals if they leave the EU. So much for poor relations. It's almost like he doesn't care about consistency or any larger rationale beyond "say why I'm great, and others are not". But then his more fervent supporters don't take notice either. They just want the image he is selling and swallow what the carnival barker is saying, hook, line and sinker. I think Trump was spot on when he said he could shoot someone in the middle of 5th Avenue and that his supporters wouldn't care. That's the first thing he has said that I can buy.

Must admit I lost a lot of the admiration I had for Obama after what he said during his recent visit to the UK but at least he was consistent...and that is more than can be said of Trump.

^ You mean apart from the EU being the biggest market for US products ?
The United States has long called on Europe to refuse China market status: http://foreignpolicy.com/2016/05/12/...arket-economy/ So the US will do, what it denies others? Would be nothing new though

I don't like either candidate but I will say that of the two Trump has never mishandled classified information (once let alone several thousand times), never allowed four of his employees to be left unsupported in a dangerous place and subsequently killed by terrorists, then lied about it to cover his butt, never tried to steal the White House furniture, doesn't run a pay to play money laundering syndicate taking donations from human rights abusers and other oppressive regimes, and (strangely enough this is just as important to me) isn't rude and demeaning to the military and secret service agents (ie the "little people") who have to deal with him.
