Agreed! In the stock game, a pair of aircraft would come out of nowhere, and be vectored straight at me. No Jap Task Force or Air Base within 1000 miles. Not even Merchants were present.

I finally finished my War Career using TMO 1.9 and RSRDC 502 (never leave home without them). I was able to do most of my patrolling on the surface, especially during the last couple of years of the war when the Japs lost control of Mid-Pacific. I felt air attacks were quite reasonable. If I got careless and stayed on the surface in waters I knew to be Jap controlled - well, there's always the 'C' key.

My biggest bugaboo was destroyers or patrol boats. Having three warships vectored at me from 15 miles away when I'm at 400 feet and running silent , was a little much IMO.

lurker

just a dumb Q. I´m playing a little bit with the zones.cfg trying to tweak the damage model a bit.

what does critical chance=0,05 (RFB) mean ?

in OM for example it is critical chance=2.0;0.05

Is it a 5% chance to destroy this compartement ?

Damn...I wanted to ask this Question in the RFB Thread. Sry for that

Yep, percentage chance for critical hit. You should also notice a multiplier, which gets aplied to the actual damage that comes up in case of a critical hit.

It usualy wont have much impact on that particular compartment, because a torpedo hit is enough to destroy most compartments to begin with. But a higher damage means more damage further out in the splash-zone, making it more likely to also destroy any compartments that are within the radius.

* the increased damage will also impact the overall ship HP. If that runs out, the ship is destroyed, regadless of actual physical damage.

Sorry to but in, and hope I got it right, but there ya go.

Thx Arclight !

But as you see, there´re two values for OM, what does that mean ?

Anything behind the ";" is commented out (it denotes a line comment, meaning anything on that line after it is ignored by whatever processes the code). Rather than replace the default value, it's good practice to comment it out. That way you can easily revert and have a baseline to know how far you strayed from the stock setting (can be usefull in troubleshooting/finetuning).

Hm....hmmmm

but then...if 0.05 means 5%....does 2.0 mean 200 ?

Yep. Not sure it will recognize 2.0 though, 1.0 might be max.

In case of invalid value, it will probably default to either 0 (default as far as I know) or 1.0, or throw an error.

* right, I'm not sure about the reasoning behind that value. Might just be to make sure it triggers crit on hit.

Default midway question

I have run into one task force at midway. And that was somewhere near the rondevous point for the mission. Has anyone seen more? and where do I find them? what date? what location vis a vis the rondevous point on the map? This has been giving me fits.

Here is one SS I found. I'll look for others later. It'll give you a place to look. With RSRD you can also ambush them on..fairly sure it's May 25 coming through the Bungo Straits..Just sit there and all the capital ships come out in one big line, no escorts until much later.

Most TF have a starting point. I find it's more fun to ambush them much earlier, just find a strait they used and a lil historic study.

Will RSRD work with stock SH4 patched to 1.4?
