Loved the games... loved the first movie too, and I wonder why Timothy Olyphant doesn't take the lead in this one?

Anyway, I had no knowledge of this until I saw it on DVD the other day, so I'm really looking forward to it; panned by the critics (so what) but a box-office hit, which is what really counts.

Crazy...

10 Cloverfield Lane
Really solid, enjoyed it, though the last ~15 minutes weren't my cup of tea. Still, very worth watching, solid 7/10 for me.

Got this to watch at the weekend. I didn't think much about the reference to a "team of British and American commandos" on the cover though... there were no American commandos as I recall... weren't they called 'Rangers'?

Rewatching a bunch of naval/sub movies I've got really makes me miss my PC and Silent Hunter 4.

The Enemy Below and Run Silent, Run Deep never get old.

After my last comment in this thread I went by the IMDB to see how many point the new movie got and how much the old one got.

5.6/10
And
6.9/10

I'm going to see it, but not before it cost about 1,3 $(9 Danish kroner)

The ratings on iMDB are next to useless. Check their Top 250 for example, lots and lots of movies in there that don't even deserve to be in the top 1000 in my opinion and besides that, we do live in times were trash like the Transformers movies, even the one with Walberg, gross over a BILLION per movie, which is something ~25 movies did in all movie history.
This alone speaks volumes.
The problem with iMDB is that it turned into an uncontrolled/unmoderated troll-paradise a long time ago, where every meat-bag is allowed to vote.
If you check the ratings in detail, you will find a huge amount of 10 or 1 ratings, aka idiot-ratings from people who either have an agenda, often politically motivated, or people who simply do not grasp anything but extremes, so a realistic rating is hardly represented.
If you want to know if the movie will please you, check some reviews, these often contain little details that, at least for me, are really helpful.
Just try to keep away from review sites that are known to shift towards political agendas as well, like buzzfeed. These are cancer.

Man, its your money and who knows, maybe you'll love it, I'm not in your skin. But I can not stress enough how bad this movie is. The money could be spend in so many better ways.
Like... Burn it in your hand and admire the colors of the flames - worth more than having to endure this pile of dung.

In any way, let me know how it went (either the movie or burning the money).

Could be problematic if he's paying in coins...

Or by card, they tend to need a fair bit of heating before they get going...

Probably just easier to see the film.

In keeping with the thread's topic, the whole idea of film criticism, or any criticism in general, by the public at general, reminds me of a scene from a Marx Brothers' movie, Coconuts. In one scene, Groucho and Chico Marx are tasked to go to a a barn. As they enter, the conversation goes like this:

Chico: Hey, I thought we were supposed to look for a barn.

Groucho: This is a barn.

Chico: This is no barn; it smells like a stable.

Groucho: Well, if look at it, it's a barn; if you smell it, it's a stable.

Chico: Well then, let's just look at it.

General film criticism follows along the same course: some people will see the same film and some of them will see a barn while the rest will smell a stable...
