Kind of hard to tell. Here's a quick example image. The RED area has been selected and detached. So it's a seperate object, but still part of the Turm.obj In Game, it gives nice sharp edges. Last edited by Madox58; 07-04-09 at 10:14 AM. |

Privateer The sharp edges as Privateer describes and demonstrates is the key to having the gun platforms look as it did on this submarine.

Coming along nicely.
But you still have a few issues. It could be the hull shape that allows this. But I think you could cut the area and add a more defined 3D section. Or add verts and such as needed to define the shapes. It's just not right in this area yet. |

deck...
so since the blueprints don't give the expected effect from :
is this any better ? I made it using the diameter of the original blueprint, and linked both with a deck. I saw on the blue blueprints that the gun decks were circular, which is normal if you look at german boats etc.. for instance. keltos Last edited by keltos01; 07-09-09 at 02:45 PM. |

It's certainly much better, as the edges look a lot smoother However, you still have the central part of the platform with a lower width than the deck
--->There should be NO gap at all! Can you make it wider so they both match? The other point that would need a bit of attention is the hull curvature around the point where the platform meets the hull, as it needs also smoothinga nd looking more like an inverted cone BUT don't touch the gun platform, it's the hull what needs to be tweaked!! The gun platform is correct now, with a vertical wall. EDITED: The rear gun platform looks already very good, just tweak the hulla round the forward one to make both look the same. Almost there!!!!

Sorry? I don't understand the question.
The central part of the gun platform, the one highlighted in pink in your first picture, must be the same width as the deck below. You shouldn't be able to see the deck protruding at the sides of the gun platform, as they align completely.

the main deck is slanted towards the bow. are the decks for the guns parallel to it, thus slanted also or are they truly horizontal, but then I guess on the RL picture the rear deck would appear higher. keltos |
