Actually those would work well in an old Whitworth as GEN "Papa" John Sedgwick found out at Spotsylvania in mid-joke: "No one could hit an elephant at that dist....."

Apocryphal, and not quite true. The source for the story is a letter from Brevet Major General Martin T. McMahon, Chief-Of-Staff for the Sixth Corps to General J.W. Latta, president of the Sedgwick Memorial Foundation.

Sedgwick was admonishing his men not to dodge when they heard fire from potential sharpshooters. He finished his famous sentence, then repeated it. It was a minute or so later when he was shot in the temple.

Battles and Leaders of the Civil War, first published in book form in 1887, volume 4, page 175.

My sister in law is a nurse and had to assist a doctor in removing a viabrator that was still running and went in deep, even when He stood up it didn't help!!! This is a true story!!!

How embarrassing would that be!!!
