Orphism. Looks like Delaunay but I can't nail it down yet. It is much like Portuguese Woman.

@Jim sorry saw this late, not dutch.

The painting is called "Hommage à Blériot No. 2", the detail depicts the rotary engine and propellor of a Blériot 11 plane of the time, with which B. had crossed the channel. This is the whole picture: The french Delaunay was befriended with german Franz Marc and August Macke. While Marc and Macke went to fight in WW1, Delaunay went to Spain, reason being "not wanting to shoot at his friends". Marc and Macke both died in the trenches. This is the exposition where i saw it: https://www.e-flux.com/announcements...bert-delaunay/ Quote:
So, over to Buddahaid

I looked at that painting, admittedly not fully awake, but didn't find that prop hub...
I'm at work so it will be several hours before I can post something.

I new I'd seen it ....half a century ago in an art history class and was searching under "surrealist propellers"! instead of Apollinaire's 'cubic orphism' I'm now a little bleriot-eyed from searching!
