Fact or Fiction: Israel needs fake nurses to justify killing Gaza babies

Israel knows it risks losing global support over its slaughter of children. So it’s turning to social media disinformation that’s sloppy but often effective.

In Gaza, a child is killed every 10 minutes. Since October 7, Israel has killed more than 4,000 children. Now, premature babies at Gaza’s al-Shifa Hospital are dying because the institution is out of power after over a month of Israel’s siege, and so is unable to operate incubators.

As a result, Israel’s propaganda and disinformation machine is finding new ways to justify the killing of children and the bombing of medical facilities. Usually, Israel’s first response to accusations of atrocities is denial. When that fails, the second strategy is to blame Hamas or other Palestinian armed groups for Palestinian deaths.

But no amount of manufactured videos or planted “evidence” can obscure the truth. Children are dying by the hundreds in Gaza, their blood spilled by Israel’s bombs, bullets and siege.

Israel’s top general resigns over 7 October Hamas attack – as military launches major West Bank offensive

Israel's top general has announced his resignation over the security failures that allowed Hamas to attack southern Israel on 7 October 2023 – saying he will stand down in March.

Lt General Herzi Halevi, the Israeli armed forces chief of staff, is the most prominent Israeli official to resign over the attack. The move comes just days into a fragile ceasefire in the Gaza war that was triggered by the attack, during which around 1,200 people were killed and another 250 people taken hostage. Israel's retaliatory offensive in Gaza has killed 47,000 Palestinians according to the enclave's health ministry and forced 90 per cent of its 2.3 million residents from their homes.

Israeli army blocked all four main entrances to the city and its refugee camp with earth mounds, preventing entry and exit. Wafa news agency also reported that Israeli forces set fire to homes in the camp and blocked civil defence teams from reaching the area to put out the flames.

Israeli forces have been stepping up their operation across the occupied West Bank since January 21, just days after the ceasefire in Gaza.

The deadly Israeli operations in recent days raise serious concerns about unnecessary or disproportionate use of force, including methods and means developed for war fighting, in violation of international human rights law, norms and standards applicable to law enforcement operations.

Israel says eliminating armed Palestinian fighters in the occupied West Bank is part of its overarching goals for the war on Gaza. United Nations Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese warns that IsraelÂ’s genocide would not be confined to Gaza if the military offensive in the West Bank does not end.

To indiscriminately slaughter 1200 unsuspecting mostly civilians, to kidnap and partially murder three hundred, and to rape and torture hundreds more to death in unimaginably bestial ways, to mutilate them while they are still alive and to cut them into pieces while they are being raped, and to give the murderers the task of massacring children and women in particular because that generates a lot of publicity, is not "defense", but bestial, ultra-brutal mass murder, no less evil and barbaric in spirit than what the Nazis did in the camps. Moreover, it was counterproductive. To put it mildly. And it has ensured that people like me, when we see how many Palestinian Arabs - the majority! - approve of it, are now completely indifferent to the future fate of this ethnic group. I don't care anymore. I am not interested anymore. Not one bit. I react to crimes of this bestial brutality with absolute mercilessness and ice-cold determination. Any many Israelis obviously see it this way, too. Like they also have no reason to just forgive the holocaust.

The Arabs could have had a free and prospering society in their places already since decades. Israel pulled out of the Gaza strip twenty years ago.

It did not take five months before the first missiles flew from Gaza into Israel. And since then... They do nto want just living their lives and enjoying freedoml peace, moderate wealth. They want the Jews out and dead and overwhelmed. And they raise their children in murderous hate from youngest childhood on.

Now many people like me dont care anymore if they themsleves are dead and overwhelmed instead. Who cares. The world certainly doesn't need them, even the other Arabs dont want to deal with them.

Israel now safeguards itself against the events of Oct. 7th repeating themselves. Thats no nice job, and it cannot be done with surgical sterility. So be it. And they teach everybody a lesson. If you mess with us, you pay the price.

Hamas certainly done themselves no favours when they appeared on the streets fully armed on the day the first three female hostages were released then again a few days later when they introduced a police force in front of the media.

Israel have had enough and have thrown the gauntlet down, noe let us see if Hamas are prepared to pick it up.

In 2024, the Israeli military continued to kill, wound, starve, and forcibly displace thousands of Palestinian civilians in Gaza, and to destroy their homes, schools, hospitals, and infrastructure at a scale unprecedented in recent history. Nearly all Palestinians in Gaza were forcibly displaced, and all faced severe food insecurity or famine.

In November, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

The number of Palestinian dead stem from IsraelÂ’s continued use of excessive lethal force, including airstrikes and drone-launched missiles.

The Israeli authorities continued to commit the crimes against humanity of apartheid and persecution through their repression of Palestinians. In July, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) issued an advisory opinion finding IsraelÂ’s presence in the occupied Palestinian territory is unlawful, that Israel is in breach of the prohibition on racial discrimination and apartheid, that it should evacuate and dismantle all settlements and make reparation to Palestinians, including compensation and allowing Palestinians it displaced after 1967 to return to their homes, and that other governments should cease any recognition of, trade or investment in settlements and work to bring the illegal situation in the occupied territory to an end.

In January, March, and May, the International Court of Justice issued provisional measures as part of a case filed by South Africa that Israel violated its obligations under the 1948 Genocide Convention in Gaza.

Israeli authorities apply Israeli civil law to settlers but govern West Bank Palestinians under military law, deny them basic due process, and try them in military courts.

In September, Israel's supreme court ruled in favor of a settler organization to evict a Palestinian family from their homes in East Jerusalem, under a discriminatory law that allows settlers to claim land Jews owned in East Jerusalem before 1948. Palestinians are barred under Israeli law from making analogous land claims in Israel.

Australia, Canada, the EU, the US and the United Kingdom imposed sanctions on violent settlers and settlement entities in the West Bank, but not Israeli officials.

Prominent Palestinian civil society organizations in the West Bank remain outlawed as “terrorist” organizations.

Detention, Torture, and Ill-Treatment of Palestinians

Israeli authorities arbitrarily detained, tortured, inflicted sexual violence on, and denied adequate food and medical care to detained Palestinian men, women, and CHILDREN.

After October 7, Israeli authorities detained incommunicado and abused thousands of Palestinian workers who had been in Israel lawfully. In 2024, Israeli authorities continued TO DEPORT Palestinians arrested in Gaza to facilities inside Israel, including healthcare workers, who reported being tortured and denied food, water and medical care. Israeli news media reported amputations of detainees due to abusive use of restraints, surgeries without anesthesia, and sexual and gender-based violence. At the Sde Teiman military base, nine soldiers were arrested but then released for raping a detainee, who had to be hospitalized.

Hamas names four Israeli female soldiers to be released in hostage deal

(Reuters) - Palestinian militant group Hamas on Friday announced the names of four Israeli women soldiers to be released in exchange for Palestinian prisoners in the second swap under the ceasefire deal in Gaza.

Karina Ariev, Daniella Gilboa, Naama Levy and Liri Albag would be released on Saturday, the group said.

The exchange, expected to begin on Saturday afternoon, follows the release on the ceasefire's first day last Sunday of three Israeli women and 90 Palestinian prisoners, the first such exchange for more than a year.

In the six-week first phase of the Gaza ceasefire, Israel has agreed to release 50 Palestinian prisoners for every female soldier released, officials have said. That suggests that 200 Palestinian prisoners would be released in return for the four.

Since the release of the three women on Sunday and the recovery of the body of an Israeli soldier missing for a decade, Israel says 94 Israelis and foreigners remain held in Gaza.

The ceasefire agreement, worked out after months of on-off negotiations brokered by Qatar and Egypt and backed by the United States, halted the fighting for the first time since a truce that lasted just a week in Nov. 2023.

In the first phase, Hamas has agreed to release 33 hostages in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails.

In a subsequent phase, the two sides would negotiate the exchange of the remaining hostages and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, which lies largely in ruins after 15 months of fighting and Israeli bombardment.

Israel launched the war following the Hamas attack on Oct. 7, 2023, when militants killed 1,200 people and took more than 250 hostages back to Gaza, according to Israeli tallies. Since then, more than 47,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, according to health authorities there.
