Looks close enough for me...

I loved being at BD for the shear variation in aircraft, not just ETPS's but a whole load of others inc. the VAAC Harrier - an old airframe with tomorrows cockpit. And I ran the sports and social bar there, so had many, many real ale tasting nights The only thing I didn't like was I had a desk job when I wanted to be back travelling and living in a tent/hotel in some lovely hot, sandy places.

That must have been an extremely interesting period in your career.

The neares I got to the RAF was my 10 week initial training course for Northumbria Police at RAF Dishforth. At the time the runway was covered for landings so jets would 'hot wheel' it....touch down for a few seconds and take off without dropping their speed.

Dishforth.

Boscombe Down is now run by QinetiQ, a private company from the embers of the public DERA. Huge profits were made by some . The airfield is still controlled by RAF personnel, there is (was) a few small RAF sections - Harrier and Tornado software teams, Fast Jet Test Sqn, Heavy Aircraft Test Sqn, Rotary Wing Test Sqn, and obviously ETPS (very few Brit students, all Indian and beyond!). Obviously the Harrier software teams now going to be non-existant!

My office was just to the right of this wonderful scene... (if hotlinking works from here)

I'd have had my hand cuffed to the ejector seat handle

I've a QinetiQ Hawk on order funnily enough, they're on special offer @Modelzone for £19.99.

A little of that feeling was so from the beginning, actually .... but after 10-15 minutes it went better ... the best was at take-off, also stops when they reversal engines, if they want to shorten the distance to land on, where it was so powerful it was enough,

After alluding to my bargain off evilbay (£12.54) and numerous hints and gusses '#135, 137, 140, 141 and 143' (presuming I haven't missed any) here is the latest addition.....a Tornado from Boscombe Down AA36003 1155/3400:

That's the problem with collecting things like this. Once you've got the set what do you do next?

Start another collection of course....
