I say post from friend is good!

From Privateer:
"I'll be chipping in.
I help here at home with many good causes and I'll tell you this.
1000 people, donateing 1 dollar each = $1000 dollars!!!
500 people, giveing 5 bucks? $2500 dollars!!
100 at 10 bucks = $1000.
EDITED
EVERY little bit helps!
If you can't donate, fine!
I, for one, will never put you down in anyway.
So to put it in a short way.
Give if you can,
wait a week if you can't.
GWX 2.0 is still free no matter how or when you get it!!

Default To Neal, Subsim, GWX 2.0 Dev Team

Thank You All!! I've had many hours enjoying SHIII +GWX1.03 and Subsim for I have learned so much about the game, the expansion mod(GWX1.03) and last but of course Benard. I know now that Benard is alive and well in a lot of us. I thank Neal for this great website for as not for him we would not have this much fun. I find myself on Subsim just as much as I play SHIII Another few bucks to have fun is well worth it to me, because I believe that nothing is for FREE. Again

THANK YOU ALL!!

I truly love SH3, as it is presently presented, and is patched/ modded. I want to know what you, the people who actually did the work, and put in the time for this, expect a person to pay for it. Sorry if this is overly capitalistic; but a person should be properly recompensed, in the way they choose, for the time they have expended doing something others will certainly take advantage of. Time is the only thing you cannot get back. So what, in your opinion, is fair recompense for what will surely be yet another great leap forward in this game we all bought 2 or more years ago?
Hi Cruiser,

Bottom line... Whatever you feel comfortable with... is good by us.

Just speaking a bit from my heart here: I don't think that GWX could really 'happen' in some corporate office somewhere. Quite naturally companies have to balance what a customer wants with profitablility. I think too that a corporate environment would have sucked the life and passion right from the GWX team's sails had 'profit' been involved.

Also, as challenging as it has been to flow around and over every problem we encountered along the way... no-one on the GWX team was ever really alone. It is difficult to explain, but a real sense of family-crew evolved with our guys and gal.

We have been paid by the journey itself... Even in bad times, our guys "shared their chow" with each other. One cannot buy that spirit. No office can reproduce it. GWX and Subsim are allowed to have personality.

Jimbuna knows what I speak of. He's talked with me on one of my darkest days... and somehow, someday, I am going to meet that man and shake his hand.

For some people here, five dollars could mean the difference between eating dinner or not on any given day... and if that man or woman sends that five dollars to keep the Subsim ship afloat, in my eyes... its as good as a million dollars.

For those Captains out there fortunate enough to be in a position to do more... it is appreciated no less. I think that for those guys, life is very difficult in other ways... and the escape from reality that SH3/GWX offers may be very important to them... to simply get through a day full of tough decisions.

Again just speaking for myself, I've needed the escape to be able to live with myself. I'm taking a break from the streets for awhile since I've gone back to school to get my Paramedic rating, but most of the time while I was working on GW/GWX, I was an EMT with my city's ambulance service. Being an EMT has placed me in terrible places. I remember coming home at least once, after literally deciding who would live and who would die on a bad rescue call. Logging on to the GWX and Subsim forums, allowed me to keep the ghosts at bay. I remember all of their faces. They'll steal your sanity if you don't find a way to live with them. This place and GWX may be keeping me from going nuts.

SH3/GWX and Subsim have been important for many of the team in different ways.

For some of us it has been a journey back in time, that allows us to see and feel a bit of what those who experienced the war saw and felt... albeit in a very limited sense.

It has been a place where many who would have been enemies in the past by national division, can meet as friends and equals... no matter what madness is going on in the world.

In these ways, and with the community here... it is quite a bit more than "just a game." It is that too... but I hope I've managed to convey the thoughts of more than just myself here.

Looking at it in these ways... GWX and Subsim are priceless.

This community cannot be allowed to die. There are none like it... anywhere else.

Otherwise, I don't know how to answer your question. For me it is impossible.

Priceless is what life is
Priceless is what GWX gives
A memory of what was
A memory of what could have been
A moment to relive
A moment to relax
A moment to reflect
A moment to honor

And to the hard work of GWX............

So, is there a pre-pay option, or do we wait till release day to make our donations?

I think you need to speak with Neal about that, but in reality you can wait a couple of weeks before you do donate. On the other hand if you really want to give something to Neal you can always donate now and on 6/12

As a general not to everyone: As Kpt and Neal said SubSim is quite expensive to maintain and run, and without it GWX/NYGM/WAC and all the other mods that bring the community together would not exist. The one week donation period is arranged so that it gives something back to Neal and the community. I've read a lot of posts about how people cannot afford to pay for GWX. Although I do respect this view I do feel it's a donation, therefore you can give whatever you fancy. If there is a penny you can afford then go ahead and give it, every little help SubSim can get counts. If on the other hand you cannot afford to give a single penny, then having GWX one week later should not be the bigger problem you're facing at the moment, as obviously Real Life problems must be (sadly and unfortunately) more important to you. Having said that I've never donated in the past in SubSim for a number of reasons and I do feel I should. I will donate when GWX is out not to get the game (I will have it by the time it will reach this stage) but to give something back to this site and this community that help me a lot.

Other than that I don't really think there is anything more to be said on the matter. Let's stop arguing about the donation period and GWX and let's enjoy the game we all like and the community spirit.

For me its a win, win situation

For me its a win, win situation. I will be traveling from Hobart to Brisbane during the release of GWX 2.0 with the car loaded with the wife, kids and a Alaskan Malamute as well as a trailer load of crap to move to our new home. I will donate prior to leaving this hillbilly backward six fingered banjo Island (Tasmania and never to return) and when I reset my game station up in my new location; GWX 2.0 will (hopefully) be here.

So I'm happy.

Again everyone haves a point and most of them are ok,
but I just donated 2 weecks ago, and it's also reasenable
that when I wash my car or pay for it, I will not do it again
in the next day ( Thought its not a good compare)...

I am for sure on the side of helping SS that gav us lots
in the past years and still gives, but I do notthink that
making what it's called a free Mod an exchange subject in order
to get donations or suport a Fair idea , in my opinion if this
happends makes the Modd a pay for product during that
periode of time ( 2 weeks)... Thought I understand the idea
I do not bellieve in the road to get that idea materialised in reality !

If it's a Free Mod it should be a free Mod !
Alternatively you could do a diferent version in CD with the
GWX logo and pack the all thing with some extra files and send it
to neal so that this way he could make it a donnator gift ! ( Just a sugestion and idea )

Man I just donnated 2 weeks ago and certanly I'm not swiming in money,
or have a golden ege duck in my farm!

That day WILL come Kpt.....You can take that to the bank

I think the options for everyone here are really quite simple.

If you would like GWX 2.0 a week prior it's full general release, the GWX Team are simply asking you to make a donation to SS whether it be large or small, to assist in it's upkeep.

If you feel unable to for whatever reason, simply wait the extra week for it's release.

Out of interest you might like to know, it was the Kpt. idea to have a period of one week. I had earlier suggested a 2 to 4 week period.

I also accept I run the risk of being accused of being in a priveledged position....I will be making my usual festive donation regardless.

The bottom line is.....Enjoy GWX at whatever point in time you get it

Jeez, Louise one week .. ONE WEEK, how long is that ?
If you don't donate, people in white coats aren't going to crash down your door and whisk you off to some prison in an unexotic location.
I don't understand what the big deal is here and as I read this thread as it progresses, I feel an undercurrent of people having a notion that people connected to GWX will benefit financially from this donation .. that is simply not the case.

@ cruiser2132 .. 'talk turkey' ?, best not with it being so close to Christmas
