going in the right direction, but still not it.

I have never heard the english word of it before, it is not exactly the same as in german but close.

I just read that cinnamon is often a condiment, as can be ginger. There a lot more spices involved.

So it is close to gingerbread, but not the same.

If I remember correctly(don't feel going through every post since Catfish posted his picture)

This machine produce a popular cake which is traditional German Christmas cake.

During this evening I came to think of Stollen.

A cake my grandma(German) on my fathers side or if it was my grandma(Danish) on my mothers side who use to bake this cake at Christmas.

I was not very old when the first Grandma died-less than ten years old and I guess it was around that time I ate a homemade Stollen.

And boy did I like this cake. Have bought factory made and they taste...dry

Sorry I know Stollen had been mentioned I just want to tell about my childhood around Christmas and this cake.

^ Nah it is perfectly ok Markus, Stollen is great. Since the unification of Germany the old Dresdner Stollen is available again for all, one of the best industry-made Stollen. Only thing that tops it if you make it yourself..
