I do not hate Israel nor do I like them-Just trying to understand their behavior against Gaza and Lebanon.

How much of the blame is Hamas and Hezbollah-I can't say only that they have a lot of the blame.

If Israel wants to really solve it t could and can but after the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin it has walked an apartheid path, I fear nobody in Israel can change this any more it is in a loop of revenge and violence. They do not see another way, both are in an existential hate revenge circle.

This is intended to prevent excessive revenge, punishments were meant to be proportional to the crime. In personal matters, however, Jesus sets a very different standard. In response to insults and unfair treatment, Christians are to endure, not retaliate. Both from the same forefather has lost it. Both brothers are still fighting each other

It's a shame the Jews don't accept Christ/New Testament.

It is also found in the Old Testament books of Exodus and Leviticus. For both passages, the phrase is used in the circumstance of a court case before a civil authority such as a judge. “An eye for an eye” was thus intended to be a guiding ethic for legislators and judges; it was not meant to advocate vengeance. I am no belieber, but this Israeli government is so orthodox its policy is an oxymoron.

Israel bombards hospital, school in Gaza, a day after Nuseirat massacre

Israel has killed dozens over past day as it continues to bomb and burn homes in northern Gaza and strikes Khan Younis.

Israel is still attacking schools, medical targets and homes across the Gaza Strip, killing and injuring several people just one day after dozens were massacred in a strike on Nuseirat camp.

Dawn raids on Saturday killed four members of the Saadallah family in their home in Jabalia.

Ethnic cleansing?

Abu Azzoum also said Jabalia, Beit Lahiya and Beit Hanoon in the north of the Strip were “under constant attack by the Israeli ground forces, which [have continued] operations for more than 17 days so far”.

Israel has imposed a total siege on several neighbourhoods in northern Gaza, prompting accusations that it is pushing to permanently displace Palestinians and ethnically cleanse the area.

Muhannad Hadi, United Nations humanitarian coordinator for the occupied Palestinian territory, decried in a statement on Friday the “rapidly deteriorating security and humanitarian situation” in Gaza.

“In recent days, multiple strikes across the Gaza Strip have resulted in scores of reported fatalities and numerous injuries,” he said.

“Women and children continue to be among the casualties. Such incidents are further reminders of the unbearable human cost of the conflict.”

Israel says it has repelled drone attack from Yemen

Quote:
Israel has repelled a new drone attack from Yemen, the military said on Monday morning, with a naval vessel in the Mediterranean reportedly shooting down the airborne device before it could enter Israeli territory.

The Houthi militia in Yemen, which is allied with Israel's arch-enemy Iran, like the Lebanese Shiite Hezbollah movement, has continued its attacks on Israel, approximately 1,800 kilometres away, even after the ceasefire in Lebanon.

The militia claims it operates in support of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, where Israel has been waging war against the Palestinian Islamist organization Hamas since the terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.

A week ago, a house in Israel was reportedly hit by a drone attack originating from Yemen.

In July, a man in Tel Aviv was killed when he was struck by a device launched from Yemen.

In response to the Houthi attacks in July and September, Israel has attacked targets in Yemen, including power plants and a port, reportedly resulting in multiple fatalities.

Gaza ceasefire talks heat up again amid deadly Israeli attacks

Israel has said it will maintain military control over Gaza just like in the occupied West Bank even if there is a deal. Israel, Hamas and international stakeholders are engaged in what are seen as the most serious talks in months over a potential ceasefire deal in the besieged Gaza Strip, where dozens of Palestinians continue to be killed by Israeli attacks daily.

At least 45,097 Palestinians have been killed and 107,244 others wounded in more than 14 months of Israeli attacks on Gaza that began after at least 1,139 people were killed in Israel during a Hamas-led attack on October 7, 2023, and more than 200 were taken captive. Nearly half of the captives have since been released under a weeklong pause in fighting last year.

Israel Katz, the Israeli defence minister, told Knesset lawmakers on Monday that a deal was “closer than ever”, but clarified a day later that after the army defeats Hamas, it will “control security in Gaza with full freedom to act”.

The Israeli military launches many violent daily raids across the West Bank, routinely killing, wounding or arresting Palestinians and demolishing their homes.

There were also multiple casualties after Israeli forces bombed a tent in Deir el-Balah in central Gaza.

The humanitarian situation in the territory continues to be catastrophic as the Israeli military keeps blocking most aid, especially to the north, which has been under a heavy siege and blockade for more than 70 days.

This comes as the United Nations General Assembly overwhelmingly voted on Wednesday to pass a resolution for Palestinian statehood, with 172 countries voting in favour and only eight – including Israel and the US – opposing it.

Irish support for Palestinians stands firm, despite Israeli anger

Israel may have withdrawn its ambassador, but Irish support for Palestinians is deep-rooted. Ireland’s decision to join South Africa’s International Court of Justice (ICJ) case accusing Israel of committing genocide in Gaza continues to feed a diplomatic storm that, to many observers, has been years in the making.

On Monday, following Israel’s decision to close its embassy in Ireland, the newly appointed Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar lashed out at IrelandÂ’s Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Simon Harris, accusing him of anti-Semitism. “There is a difference between criticism,” Saar said, “and anti-Semitism based on the delegitimisation and dehumanisation of Israel and double standards towards Israel as opposed to other countries. This is how Ireland allowed itself to behave towards Israel.”

Responding to the furore, Harris told reporters in Dublin that Ireland would not be silenced, stressing Ireland had remained consistent throughout the war in its support for Israel’s “right to defend itself” within the limits of international law.

However, “You know what I think is reprehensible?,” Harris caveated, “Killing children, I think that’s reprehensible. You know what I think is reprehensible? Seeing the scale of civilian deaths that we’ve seen in Gaza. You know what I think is reprehensible? People being left to starve and humanitarian aid not flowing.”

On Tuesday, the widely read Times of Israel ran a blog piece entitled, Why the Irish Hate the Jews, in which the author Lisa Liel stated that it was Ireland’s ingrained Christianity, a religion she characterised as “inherently anti semitic” that had led to it objecting to Israel’s killing of more than 45,000 Palestinians in Gaza.

The row with Ireland “definitely doesn’t undermine the government or the support to Netanyahu”, Cassif said, “And even the media hardly covers it. You know, it is the usual, the ordinary drill: every time that there is a criticism from one angle or another it is immediately [branded] anti-Semitism and all that hogwash,” he said.

Gaza ceasefire talks in final stage, Palestinian negotiator tells BBC

Quote:
After months of deadlock, there are new signs that Israel and Hamas could be moving closer to a Gaza ceasefire and hostage release deal.

A senior Palestinian official involved in the indirect negotiations told the BBC that talks were in a "decisive and final phase".

Israel's defence minister, Israel Katz, has also said an agreement is closer than ever.

In recent weeks, the US, Qatar and Egypt have resumed their mediation efforts – reporting greater willingness by both sides in this 14-month war to conclude a deal.

An Israeli delegation described as "working level" is currently in the Qatari capital Doha amid a flurry of diplomatic comings and goings in the region.

The Palestinian official outlined a three-phase plan which would see civilians and women soldiers held hostage in Gaza released in the first 45 days, with Israeli forces pulling out of city centres, the coastal road and the strategic strip of land along the border with Egypt.

There would be a mechanism for displaced Gazans to be able to return to the north of the territory, the official said.

A second stage would see remaining hostages freed and troops withdrawn before the third stage ending the war.

Of 96 hostages still held in Gaza, 62 are assumed by Israel to still be alive.

The plan appears to be based on the deal US President Joe Biden outlined on 31 May and reports from all sides stress there are key details to work out.

A round of talks in mid-October failed to produce a deal, with Hamas rejecting a short-term ceasefire proposal.

According to his spokesman, Katz told members of the Israeli parliament's foreign affairs committee on Monday: "We have not been this close to an agreement on the hostages since the previous deal," referring to an exchange of hostages and Palestinian prisoners in Israel in November 2023.

He has since written on X: "My position on Gaza is clear. After we defeat Hamas's military and governmental power in Gaza, Israel will have security control over Gaza with full freedom of action," comparing this to the situation in the occupied West Bank.

"We will not allow any terrorist activity against Israeli communities and Israeli citizens from Gaza. We will not allow a return to the reality of before 7 October."

Such comments are likely to be seen as problematic by negotiators trying to bridge gaps with Hamas. However, in Israel, they are seen as vital to guarantee the support of far-right Israeli cabinet ministers who have previously warned they would not agree to what they have described as a "reckless" deal in Gaza.

The Palestinian Islamist armed group Hamas, which governed Gaza, carried out an unprecedented cross-border attack in southern Israel on 7 October 2023. About 1,200 people were killed and 251 others abducted.

More than 100 hostages have been freed through negotiations or Israeli military rescue operations.

On 7 December, it is understood from Palestinian sources that Israel stopped aircraft movement and drone surveillance over the territory for six hours at the request of mediators, allowing Hamas to collect information about the hostages.

Pro-Qatari newspaper al-Araby al-Jadeed then reported that Hamas had handed a list of sick and elderly Israeli hostages as well as those with US citizenship to Egyptian intelligence officials. The paper said there were also the names of Palestinian prisoners that the group was demanding as part of the deal.

At the outset of the war in Gaza, Israel pledged to destroy Hamas's governing and military capabilities. More than 45,000 Palestinians have since been killed according to figures from the Hamas-run Ministry of Health, which are seen as reliable by the UN and others.

Most of the 2.3 million population of Gaza has been displaced, there has been widespread destruction and amid an ongoing struggle to get aid to those in need, there is now mass hunger.

Donald Trump's victory in November's US presidential election has given a new push to diplomatic efforts.

At a news conference on Monday, he again warned that a ceasefire deal should be reached before he takes office, saying otherwise, "it's not going to be pleasant."

Israel committing ‘acts of genocide’ by cutting off water in Gaza, HRW says

Human Rights Watch says Israel is intentionally cutting off water supplies and destroying infrastructure in Gaza.

Human Rights Watch has accused Israel of committing “acts of genocide” by denying clean water to Palestinians in Gaza, and called on the international community to impose targeted sanctions.

In a new report released on Thursday, the New York-based watchdog said that since October 2023 – when Israel launched its military offensive in Gaza – Israeli authorities have “deliberately obstructed Palestinians’ access to the adequate amount of water required for survival in the Gaza Strip”.

The Genocide Convention, enacted following the mass murder of Jews in the Nazi Holocaust, defines the crime of genocide as “acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group”.
