Close enough! THe snorkelhead of type XXI Uboat U-3503 Scuttled by Germany raised by the Swedish navy and used in 2 of their submarines: Nacken and Neptun. U wouldn't have it raised in an attack on a type XXI as the extended snorkel pipes would break above 6 knots (out of top speed of 15 knots which would cause the scopes to vibrate as well); the headaches from eardrum difficulties to crew, diesel fumes, and the engine sounds would negate the use of hydro phones. ok, but what is this orifice(?) for?

The strange uneven paint or coating had me guessing.. but obviously it is not some anti-radar coating.

I've no idea and it was only the perforations that led to a snorkel.

What does this belong to?
