Speed and height are your friends in a 109. Never get involved in a turning battle with a Spit or similar allied aircraft because they will turn tighter and be on your 6 in no time. Straight lines and head for the ceiling when being chased, you'll end up being able to regain any advantage as long as you keep speed and height.
