The vanilla game needed finetuning to say the least. People like you make this game much more fun. Thanks for that.

There is a little question i'd like to ask;
When sailing from Java my batterie was 100%. After a few days and a few dives it did not recharge to 100% but to some 94% or so. No problem, I can live with that. Leaving the option on to recharge gives a drastic reduction in your range when running on diesels however.
Now everytime I surface I have to remember to shut the recharger off, otherwise I won't make it to port.
Is this intentionally?

Regards,
Bando
The reduction in range is temporary while the battery charges. As soon as the battery charges you get normal efficiency back.

Edit: Sorry I misunderstood - your battery never charges. I don't think it is intentional, I have never seen it.

No, its not intentional. I'd never do that, it would annoy me to no end. Again, though, unless damaged i havent seen this behavior at all.

I can also confirm that after repairing battery damage, the batteries would never fully recharge, aswell as it took longer for them to charge and they held a charge for a shorter duration. Seems like a neat damage effect.

PS. You think my signature file is a bit too bright???? It seems kinda distracting.

Before i do anything drastic in the next version, i'd really like to hear some feedback on how the AI is, with its ability to visually detect you.

They still dumb as rocks or A bit too good? lemme hear it.

I'm guessing in between. When I attacked a taskforce I had DDs on top of me pretty quick but weren't as acccurate with the DCs. I suppose early in the war (Jan '42) and the crew may well have been wet behind the ears. The response seems quite good. As for single merchants or convoys, they tend to zig zag once an attack has been made on them. Well that happens in my game anyway.

If I have my scope up and do 2/3 or greater thy notice but at 1/3 I can leterally be right next to them and they see nothing.

If they see the scope they dc me but if I stay undetected until stuff blows up, they seem to just stay on station. They might come in to take a quick look but they never search hard enough to find me. I am usually in the middle of the convoy diving to 250+ ft on 1/3, so I am hard to detect.

When they do dc me, the charges go off at all kinds of depths, usually medium to far distance. Haven't gotten damaged by a dc yet.

I've had the most trouble from those gunboats. They seem to go right to my posistion and stay on me.

Ducimus, I suggest that you change ligth factor to 1.0
With light factor 2.5, ships are really blind.
I tested this in quick mission (Tokio-Saipan Convoy).

With light factor 2.5, three escorts did'nt notice me (and didn't start firing) until they were 0.8-1.8 km away:

When I changed light factor to 1.0, they opened fire from 3.8 to 5.6 km!

And im was detected at about 3200 meters at night doing a night surface attack

Which was the whole point of uppping the light factor, to make night surface attacks more feasible. Unfortunatly, dawn or dusk conditions will also be effected. Fog also has an effect, as does waves. It's all one big sum of the whole.

*sigh* I just can't win. the whole AI sensor implentation by the game sucks balls and needs to be redone from the ground up.

Great work Ducimus! I have been using 1.4 for the last week and am finally getting some escort action.
Now if Ubi would just get the merchants to get the hell out of Dodge while the ectorts work me over. all will be well.
Can't wait to try out ol' Bungo pete.
