Lol. Ok then. I wish I could put into worlds exactly how much you are missing....really.

I just finished a nasty patrol over Hunland. 6 Scouts went up and two came back. Archie was particulary vicious this morning and the weather was pretty awful so we were forced to stay lower than I would have liked. Got bounced by a flock of Albatri on the way back over the lines. I got two BTW. I hope one of the boys down there in the trenches saw me shoot them down though. My last three kill claims have been turned down by the Home office as they could not be confirmed.. At one point I was flying so low with an Albatros on my back I could see the dust spurts from his bullets kicking up the ground in front of me. I don't even know how I got out of that one. Doesn't matter though. 2nd Lt. James Booth lives to fight another day.

Good call, Egan

I bought Combat Flight Simulator 3 in order to run Flander's Field, just after I watched Flyboys. I've been playing stock CFS3 and enjoying it the last two weeks, and I've d/l FF but have not installed...yet. Maybe this weekend, you made it sound good.

Well clue me in then - does it have a dynamic campaign like RB3D? If so, you are starting to peek my interest!

It's a long while since I played RB I have to say but from what I remember of it the one in OFF is already, for my money, every bit as good and will be even better by the time Phase two comes out.

The campaign is excellent. At the moment the choice of squadrons is limited as not all the aircraft are finished (but this is going to change in Phase 2) but there is still more than enough to get your teeth into. Patrols over the lines; Hunting observation balloons; scambles when your aerodrome is attacked; and Lone wolf patrols where you go off on your own and go where you want. There is even a Home defence campaign pitting you against Zeppelins over London.

At the moment squadron management is a bit simple but it is being improved upon and will feature a full and dynamic pilot roster, proper working promotions and other features that the team are keeping close to there chest just now.

The real genuis of this mod is the exterior wrapper which you run ( and which launches the game when you fly a mission,) and controls every feature of the mod from the progression of time to how often you want weather fronts to change. The weather is incredible: far superior to anything i have seen in IL2 for example. Terrain and scenery modelling is also of a very, very high standard. Flying over the front at dawn in November 1918 with the low red sun rising and casting it's light on the froven mist shrouded fields and hedgerows below you is about as immersive as it comes. Of course, the fact that the CFS3 engine allows for huge maps is a massive bonus. You have virtually the whole of Western Europe there: Towns look like towns, forests look like forests. and the front is a horrible, horrible place.

Anyway. A couple more screenies. If the colours seem a bit funny that was just me mucking around with Infranview a while ago:

Im trying right now to get that mod to install right, 3rd try right now as it not doing what the doc says it should be (ie not leaving an exe on the desktop) and it keeps running out of hard drive space (with 5 gigs free).

Over Flanders Field? Hmmm.

Red Baron 3d was the first flight sim i played really damn long. Still today an occasional start of the game to remember the old days where i had hours of fun with it, and thinking of starting a career. Again.

But Over Flanders Field....looks and sounds very good. Can you also play both sides like in RB3D? That was one of the things i liked on it.

I never got CFS3...because besides IL2 CFS3 sucks.

My only objection to OFF is that is currently limited to mid-late war. With RB3D and the Western Front mod I can fly a Vickers Gunbus in 1915 and with some of the other mods it looks very good.
