It's strange. Bow shape, hull proportions and cargo hatches shape and arrangement look very similar to Great Lakes freighters:
but superstructure looks like a common tramp steamer. |

It is too long for a lake freighter and too shallow for a sea going freighter wander if such ship really do exist.

These things could be pretty long:
But as for the ship in question, I too couldn't find any real ship that would match it. |

You have to remember some Units were very early Mods.
So some ships are totally imaginary just to get more units in Game. Not saying this thread is wrong or worthless. I'd expect the Cyclops in GWX is on this hit list at some point. Knowing full well it is not up to your standards. |

This model is so poor that it can probably not be assigned to any existing ship... It looks very unreal to me.
The attribution of the term "Empire" by the British, is a generic term which does not characterize a type of ship but practically all the ships acquired or built during the conflict and managed by the MOS (Ministry of Shipping) then by the MOWT (Ministry of War Transport) in 1941. Thus, an Empire ship may be a tugboat, a coaster, a liner, a tanker, a medium or large cargo ship... Last edited by Mister_M; 12-15-21 at 09:40 AM. |

This was probably intended to be some kind of light composite superstructure merchant. I recognize it as based on a SH4 ship created by the original developers. I agree, the proportions could use a bit of work.

This might have been the modeler's inspiration - hull is very similar. Superstructure though, either out of proportion or modeled after different ship.

Am with kapuhy on this... Ispiration to the original modder, perhaps. Hull, similar... but... no cigar for you, My Burns. Bridge housing, is missing the wings as is in the actual ship side by side pics... & the kingposts ( think that's the name of them... like the hull... looks closely similar, is off a bit. Then there is the 2... masts, on top of the bridge housing in the mod ship that is absent in the pic of the MV Washington express. Could go on, about the differences... but, suffice it to say, I believe those I named off, are enough to say... "Next suspect, if you please, your honor." M. M.
