Transparent water in SH3
Hello!
I know it was tried before and I have not found any mod that achieved transparent Water in SH3. Still, I am wondering if anyone had another thought on this. I know that the wake texture is visible through high waves from the side of the boat. Why is that? What is different for the wake that makes it visible through the water? Also, I can see the clouds in the sky from under water... |

If I remember correctly there was a parameter to set the water clarity and you can modify it with Silent Editor.

Yes indeed. I am talking about the transparency of the ocean surface if you look from above. I know there are some threats about this. And I understand that it is not possible to achieve in SH3... But still I am wondering why I can see the wake texture through the water if I am looking from the side to my boat in stormy weather. Something is different with that texture so that it becomes visible... Any ideas?
Edit: Clarity of the water is something that I could change by SH3Commander or changing the environment files. In the attached picture you can see the wake of my boat through the waves.

Hitman has it correct.
Shaders and such are a hard code thing in SH3 As is the surface of the ocean and many of it's resulting actions. If one were to hack that and fix the stuff to SH4 or 5 standards? They'd be a Legend and a statue would be erected in Neal's backyard! |

LOL!
Funny thing thing is in free cam mod you can look up from under water and see sky and clouds. So's all we need is to flip the oceans over. |

Thats what I was seeing also. And the fact that the wake texture is visible through water. What is the difference with this texture? Why is it visible through the waves also from above the waterlevel?
Anyone? |

And now that this topic has been mentioned, what file and what parameter should me modified in order to have more transparent view underwater? (less fog I mean)...
Can't find anywhere this specific info.... CapZap

Mine is set to 20 but still very foggy... would be nice to have very clear water, it's nice to take screenshots under water, speacially whem ships are sinking or when firing torpedos.

https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/sho...40&postcount=3 The real visibility under water in clear weather is about ≈63 m. You should not see your own screws from the bow of your submarine.
