Jim, the real Memphis Belle Morgan flew was an F model... no chin turret. The "imposter" is a G model B-17 with the chin turret, so yes, it is an imposter.

Was that the WWII Weekend?
Jim, I figured you would know . But it was to let others know too, that might not have known, the model the real Memphis Belle was. I had one guy at an airshow argue about it to no end. A friend heard us and came over to back me up and set him straight. He wasn't happy at all. LOL

Next June we'll have to get together at the show and have dinner and a couple of brews over at Texas Roadhouse. I work with the Flight Line Safety crew, so just ask where I am. If I'm taking a bit of time off I'll be over by the DH Mosquito. Yes... sucking up for a ride. LOL Another for my Bucket List.

Whilw we're waiting...
I'm waiting as patiently as I can for The Mighty Eighth too, guys. If you're after some B-17 series drama in the meantime, you can follow the story of a B-17 called "Better Duck" over on my channel.
It's a playthrough series of B-17 Queen of the Skies solitaire boardgame and the crew is my mates and myself. I've striven to make it as movie-like as possible while still obviously a boardgame. There's archive footage sprinkled throughout and it's apparently a fun watch. Mission 1 is here |

Welcome to Subsim, arcuspilot!
Gaame looks interesting, and the video is well-made! OT regarding cardbox games I have recently seen a Zeppelin airship cardboard game, "simulating" a german WW1 Zeppelin on various raids and recconnaissance missions. It is quite complicated, you have cards for ballast, hydrogenium, ammunition, fuel, then event cards like wind, storm, rain, ice, clouds, buoyancy changing at various altitudes, enemy fire, ground fire, all mixed and based on your own altitude and conduct of the airship. It looks astonishing 'real', and very hard to survive.. I think i will get it I wish someone could put this in a PC simulation, although i admit it would be very hard to do properly. All the airships that are in electronic sims, are merely modelled on dynamic flying, like a big plane with certain properties, but never including static buoyancy and the like.
