IL-2 Sturmovik series
Has anyone been able to run any of these on Windows 8? My pc's not the problem, I'm sure, since it runs all my other flight sims really well (and I have most of them). I can't even get it to run the original and I've tried all the compatibility settings I can, both in set-up and play. My old XP rig runs all IL-2 well, except I have to turn the clouds off altogether in 1946 to get decent fps.

I don't think Il-2 Sturmovik 1946 was ever released for consoles. You probably have the far less realistic Il-2 Birds of Prey version.

Trying now. I was running 4.07 on win10 OK but trying to update to 4.12.2 has broken it. Fresh install is warranted now.

Did you install 4.08, 4.09, 4.10, and 4.11 before trying to update to 4.12?

No. I wasn't aware of them backtracking from HSFX. I'll be digging for the updates now.

I said "There is IL2 Sturmovik 1946 which is the latest version of the original PC IL2 series". I meant those based on the original engine. Otherwise I would have had to mention Il2 Cliffs of Dover too.
