Icon14 Hello, complete newbie here

Hi all,

Over years I've heard a lot about the Silent Hunter series, so I decided to give it finally a try. Got both 3 & 4 Steam versions.

As I've never played a sub-sim before and know nothing about navigation in general, my interest is to mod them for better visuals yet keep an easy beginner friendly gameplay. I've read that SH3 is better for this - yet SH4 supposedly has better tutorials, so I guess will be a mix of both. Right now am following instructions on:

Silent Hunter III [SH3] Guide Not Only For Beginners - SUBSIM Radio Room Forums

Suggestions?

Thanks!

Default Wow! overwhelmed by warm welcome

I've read posts complimenting the friendliness of the subsim forums but this was beyond my expectations. Thanks for the warm welcome!

I'm hooked on SH3 now, having applied JSGME, SH3 Commander, S3FE and GWX 3.0 Gold. It's awesome! I've been playing the tutorial missions w/exams and mostly learning my way through keyboard shortcuts.

Even though it looks great, I still think the tutorial videos look a bit better - will be looking into mods to enhance visuals.

Thanks again!
