I don't get it why some companies want deal breaking conditions to license their decades old aircraft. There was a similar case with the Il2 series and Grumman about a WWII aircraft (I believe it was the Avenger). Just stupid!

A great many years ago there was a story about Chrevrolet saying they wanted Monogram and Revell to pay hefty royalties to make models of their cars. According to the story, both companies said "Oh, that's okay. We'll just model Fords from now on." Chevy quickly backed off. Or so the story goes. Of course they were talking about a model of a commercial product, which could potentially help sales of the real thing.
Anyway, I agree. It's stupid to demand excessive amounts of cash for something like that.
