Default WOW

Congratulations!

That is quite an impressive achievement. That's something many have dreamed of but you went ahead and made it come true.

Default A New Way To Play

Its been a while since I had any updates on this project. Well after a complete rewrite on the code to incorporate the new dual gauge.
I have a quick video to show it in action, SH3 is running and Gauge is linked to Sim via my custom SH3 communicator for Bi-Directional communications between Sim and Hardware.

New code also incorporated better needle control that also features Acceleration and Deceleration curves for better performance and less prone to error.

Faceplates and Dial are rough mockups for demonstration purposes only:

Is this project still active?? I tried the sim2reality.com link and it doesn't seem the domain has been kept up, and the last reply on this forum has been a year ago.

I have embarked on a rather similar project controls and instrumentation project, but with a rather large twist. I'm attempting to interface a bunch of antique WW2 US Navy bridge equipment to a computer using Arduinos and use that as THE ULTIMATE NAVAL SIM CONTROLLER for Silent Hunter 4/5 as well as other Naval sims I haven't decided on yet.

So far I have a steering station, engine order telegraph, gyro-compass repeater, RPM indicator, all of which are driven by old-school 3 phase synchro servo motors which I am working on sending and receiving signals from. Eventually I hope to have a fake periscope/binoculars to use as screen along with a conventional screen and mouse for using the map, along with a bunch of other goodies.

What may put a dent in my plan, is that without a way to pass data with Silent Hunter, I'm stuck to just emulating a keyboard, which is lame. It appears reaper7 has figured that all out though. If you could please PM me reaper, and share details with how your interface works, I (and the rest of the community who will go bananas over this) would greatly appreciate it!!!

Thanks for the great comments.

The system will run with stock and modded versions of silent hunter 3, though unsure of steam versions of sh3 as don't have it to test with.

Started designing the final main board and gauge boards today. So hope to have them done soon and get them out to prefabs.

May do a small production run for any interested in getting in early for initial design and software testing.
Will post looking for candidates later, those in will get the hardware and software at a much reduced price.
Stay tuned for further info on that.

Somewhere in these forums is a thread (pictures included) where a guy remodeled a room in his house to look like the inside of a uboat. Your homemade device would be perfect for that room.

EDIT
I found it somewhere else...

It´s a pitty that we play subsims. Otherwise we could build somewhat like this.
Building a submarine with functional gauges is nearly impossible because nearly anyone has enough place and money. But it would by nice to use a filmset (from "Das Boot") to controll games like SHIII. Does anyone know a crazy guy how could sponsor us?

Hi Reaper

Can you give more details about how this interface to the box works?
What interface do you use?
How did you fix it so it works with SH3?
What language was used?
