Round or flat earth? -- Trans-Atlantic Plotting - Page 2

GC courses appear to be longer, curved, on Mercator Projection charts and Rhumb line courses appear as straight lines; whereas the reverse occurs on Oblique Mercator, Gnomic and Conic Projection charts See Bowditch, Chap 3.
