Thanks so much for the help guys. Much more helpful than people in other games I play such as Guild Wars which is the most non-helpful gaming community out there.
My 2 cents...

Remember that you can move in 3 dimensions now to aviod things (DCs, that is). DCs are set by the AI on your last known position, therefore, sometimes it is wise to move up and not down. When the DD is making it's attack run it doesn't hear you, therefore you can pick sime speed and change direction. After that you must go silent (silent running) and change depth.

Also

- Try to keep a low profile to the DDs sensors
- Wait until you get "Falke" type acoustic torpedos and give them hell in periscope depth
- Say hello to your personal life, work etc. This is the mos addicting game ever

Stay tuned!

hey Trenken, welcome it's me hedges from gamefaqs, glad you found the site.

This is a good question, and one i've been stumped by. I haven't found a way to do this yet as when i try and "Save and Exit" it doesn't exit. It forces me to either goto Port or continue. I'm guessing the patch will fix this but i haven't looked into that yet. Kind of sucks because it can cause you to stay up two more hours then initially planned .
.
I dont know how you guys have had trouble saving and quitting mid-patrol. The button has always worked for me. Sometimes I think you have to hit it twice. But returning to port ends your patrol. You should be able to save and exit ok. Just load up your career file and try and save and then load it up again. Like I said I never had trouble doing it.

Also its "Depth under Keel". And yes The ping you emit is very easily detectable to Destroyers. A ping is a sound wave and its shows up like a christmas light on the hydrophones or an asdic,

Uhm, how hard is it to save? You hit the "save and exit" option, type in a name to save it with, hit enter to lock in the name and then push the save key. It pulls up a box that says "Game saved" and then you just exit or, my preference, back to the command room and use alt-f4. Using alt-f4 exits the game quick instead of going through all the various menus.

So when you start up again, it takes you right to that same spot correct?

um, i always thought you had to be surfaced to save and exit in the middle of a patrol. Was this changed in a patch or something ?

I've been saving while surfaced and it's been working fine. It takes me right where I left off when I boot up again. I haven't tried it while submerged though.

Cool thanks for this info. I definately can not save and exit. After the save, my options have been either to "continue" or "dock at port". which meant i had to keep the game going, while i slept or went to work. I'll check the surface thing out tonight.
