yes... and also because the range is not important if you choose to hit at 90 degree... and the torpedo damage is maxim.. because of the perpendicular angle... and because you can hit 3-4 ships in same time in the same column when you hunt an convoy.. if you are at 90 degree you have some place left for small erorrs also
