For fun: Strange things seen in Shells of Fury
Early in the war I spotted the Gneisenau just off the Thames River. I followed her around waiting for something to happen. She spotted me and seemed to be turning away to avoid me. She went into a minefield. I didn't follow her in there. A few minutes later she began moving west into shallow waters. And kept going. She ran aground south of the Thames and sank with just her superstructure above water.
In the Med, I was stalking tankers coming out of the Suez Canal. There were three destroyers nearby so I made a Super Stealthy Approach. And hit the tanker with my periscope. Well, it didn't work after that and repairs couldn't be completed while submerged so I left. I surfaced, repaired the scope and received a message saying my target had sunk. Sure enough, I got credit for an 8000 ton tanker without firing a shot. This is my first post at subsim and I would like to thank Der Schmutt for making SOF an enjoyable game. Save the Ales! |

Yes, I enjoy(ed) it too but usually can't spend the time to complete patrols these days.
