Remember SH4 when it was released? After a few patches, some spit and polish from the mods, i am sure this title will be awesome! Time will tell.

Rather than graphic glitches and quirks, I'd be far more concerned about serious gameplay drawbacks, like the impossibility to set the desired course, the odd periscope interface etc. These suit far better the definition of a failure than - say - clipping crewmen or sterile boat interior.
Just my $0.02.

IMO far too early to come to a fair assessment. There are indeed things that don't look too impressive, like the crew behaviour during alarm or when switching off the diesels, but a lot of your points are IMO superficial at best. Judging a game by a handful of (pre-release) videos simply doesn't make a lot of sense.

Wait another week until the 1st reviews will start to come up.

Words EPIC + FAIL get more and more annoying every time someone putts them together...

Anyway, back to the thread:

- are you sure? In SH4 they only wore the right clothes during rain, not bad weather
- why wouldn't he? he isn't tied to the desk, and it is nice to be able to talk to someone in charge for a change, no matter how they simulated this in game
- it is the same engine as in previous 2 titles, so what is new??
- I don't mind, the bunker is a location where players spends what - 1-2% of the patrol time?
- I disagree, maybe out of sync with the instruments / captain, but certainly not worse
- what videos were you watching?
- not of the importance, and would be a waste of development time = impossible to do it to the level of quality as the moding community can
- same as previous

What a thread...
Do you even have the game urfisch?
Maybe you should give your mind a break from thinking about SH5 all the time.
It sure has bugs and other missing features, but given time, it has the potential to rival SH3+mods (or SH4+mods)

On the contrary, one of the best and frankly spoken threads from this SH5 frenzy forum ...

Agreed.

Although I find it difficult to test the game, my computer really needs an upgrade!

i didnt test it and from what ive seen so far...i dont wanna test it. graphics is not all a game needs, to fit my needs. but if there are major bugs...i cant ignore them. and i dont want to have a game, which was thrown on the market, which is not even 90% finished.

fine tuning from modders is one thing...to make the game, what it was meant to be, is another.

and i know, the thread was titled with a provoking type of manner...but this is what it meant to be.

Agree with this... urfisch, buddy, I can tell you're disappointed and feel betrayed, but you really should find a better way to vent it than creating this kind of threads. It really isn't helping in any way.

Older SH titles were also unfinished at first release. Took some time but they had multiple patches. Plus great modders did things that were thought to be impossible. (And they are still doing it! Just look at the new animated diesels and new compartments released by FM for SH3, today!)

Think of SH5 as a newborn child. Don't judge the child before it has even took its first steps, there is still much to work on, much to learn, much to patch and mod.

I can understand urfisch's anger, but all these "immersion killers" are a sure target for our modders - and they will do a much better job there than the developers.

I only hope that the developers did a good job on the more important game aspects, only a few to mention:

- A working manual TDC where torpedoes go where they should go (remember SH4 first version catastrophe)

- Realistic boat behaviour in normal and rough sea (ok this seems to be wrong - must be modded)

- Realistic weather and weather changes!

- Realistic enemies and enemy capabilities - I don't want unescorted convoys in 1941 - and neither I want single merchants who have night-vision goggles and can hit you with deadly accuracy at 5nm

- A good damage management and realistic repair times (yeah)

- A good crew management (Do we have to change personal manually or automatic or is the crew on station 24/7 ??)
