Norton has to be the worse case scenario for not starting from scratch when coding. I think the engine is still original from the 80's.....

I'm actually using Microsoft Security Essentials at the moment.
And it seems to work fine! I used to use AVG but it needs its own dedicated CPU core. |

I vote for Linux. It's the best antivirus system out there. Run Windows in a Virtualbox and you're good to go!
