In the readme it took an Ace with skills to fly it to it's full potential.

Oh, they don't mention how ssssssssllllllllllllloooooooooooowwwwwww it was, and the fact that it tended to have rather nasty wing failures?

Though it did have pretty amazing maneuverability...

Though there is in fact a fighter which could be described as the best fighter of WWI, and that would be the Fokker D.VII

D Vii was so good that it was specifically called out in the peace treaty.

The Fokker D.VIII is my personal favorite, although the D.VII is right up there. The D.VIII, though, has the speed and relative stability of the D.VII, it has the maneuverability of the DR.I, and it has the aerodynamic body of a racing plane. It was the perfect combination. Pity they weren't introduced earlier. Germany would have owned all other nations royally in the air war.

Here's a picture of the great Erich Loewenhardt testing out a D.VIII. He shot down two Sopwith Camels in a single day with it, but he was never given one officially:

I personally like the Siemens Schukhert DIII and DIV.

Not the fastest aircraft of the war, but a rotary with no gyro coupling (countra rotation of the prop and cylinders), and very efficient prop.

Definitely the fastest climbers of the war by a long margin, relatively light and probably quite agile. Supposed to be a bit of a handful though.

No, not from what I can remember. Heard they quit making them alltogether. Was at the end of the war too so...
