I'm not much familiar with doctrines.
I'm just thinking: is it possible to have different doctrines for same or different subs ?
For example - create entity in database :

Gepard - type: Akula II - and give it a specific personalized doctrine.
next , create Leopard (or whatever name they have) and give it different doctrine - like different captain.

So, if you are not scenario creator , you don't know who you gonna fight with.

The doctrines could be also divided on different categories: very experienced captains and those who are fresh - they could need more time to shoot torpedo etc . . .

But it would need new entities to be made : same subs with different doctrines, named properly - so the scenario makers could distinguish one from another.

acctualy doctrines (tactics - as far as i understand) should differ between submarine types . . .they all have different speeds , armament.

Anybody gets it ?

I don't know much about doctrines - it's just a thought.

its sure sounds cool. you could have a few generic sets, to simplify things.

you could have the rookie crew, they takes thier time. you could also have the agressive crew who shoots first, asks questions later.

a captain who zig-zags, another who prefers a certain weapon.

I guess with this system you could have some 'difficulty' settings with crew. like with Janes 688i H/K, you could select normal and expert I think......

the settings didnt just mean the captain was good, but the whole crew as a whole. which is what a ship is all about. a well trained and experienced crew with effective officers to lead them makes a solid fighting ship. not just the captain being the lone hero.

Hi Tusipex,

It may indeed be possible. A generic SubDef would have to be assigned to the appropriate sub object, say the AkulaII. Then by using an individual subs entity number and the SetTactic command, individualized behavior may be possible.
