Okay I started a new career with SH3 Commander and realistic patrol length checked. While in mid patrol I saved the game and exited.
To return to my saved patrol do I have to launch the game again through SH3 Commander to keep all the saved modified data? Thanks! |

I think you have to start a new campaign thru the regular game. Once the first patrol is completed then you can launch using Commander for patrol #2. The realistic career length is pretty cool and works on a theory developed by Beery.
Check the forum as there are a lot of threads relating to it as its progressed to its current stage

SH3 Commander cannot launch you into your save patrol. It only launches SH3, from where you have to go trhough the standard menu hierarchy to load your saved patrol.

1. I start a new career with SH3 Commander 2. I start my first patrol and finish it and the info is saved in SH3 Commander. 3. I launch the game through SH3 Commander to start my 2nd Patrol. AND Suddenly realize I have to go to work! So I save the game. 4. Now Here is the big question!!! To return to this saved patrol and to keep the modded data such as the different tonnage for ships, and crush depths......here is the question.......Do I have to lauch the game through SH3 or can I do it through the regular game? I like using the realistic patrols feature, but If I load saved patrols through the SH3 Commander will the program read it as not a continuation of an old patrol, but a new one? The issue is not in the ReadMe File, just something about "Tinkering Between Patrols"... |

Open up SH3Comm, then select your career name from the menu in the top left hand corner, then launch SH3 from SH3Comm.

Hello,
apparently it is not that easy. Start Sh3 commander, ok. The commander recognizes my (one) career, respectively the name i once entered. I click on it, i make some changes to the crew and launch SH3 via Sh3 commander. I was just back to port when i left the last game without having SH3 commander installed. I now "buy" a type IX boat, and add some crew members, ok. I leave the game to continue playing later - i'm still in port, but now BEFORE the new patrol. Launching SH3 commander it tells me: "Invalid argument to date encode". It then nevertheless starts, and displays my career. Rollback is greyed out. The crew mangager does not show any crew member at all. Wanting to change, a display comes up: "Access violation at address 7C923144 in module 'ntdll.dll'. Write of address 00403ECD". I am getting confused which things i may change within SH3, and which with SH3 commander. There's no useful info on that in the readme. I guess i do not quite understand how this is supposed to work ? Greetings, Catfish |

Hello,
ok, seems there is trouble using the milk cow mod with SH3 commander. Milk cow allows leaving base after only one day, simulating supply from a ship - unfortunately the one-day-rule also applies in a real port. So the SH3 commander probably gets confused about the date (?) Greetings, Catfish |

Now as Beery can bear witness, I am not afraid to criticize.
![]() However, I have been playing SH3Comm 1.43 with RUB 1.42 since they were available, and have not had any problems. ![]() First I will select a new career, name and auto generate the crew. Next when I wish to go back to the first patrol of that career I launch SH3 from SH3Comm. Sometimes I will alter the date and boat type, sometimes I do not. The only difference it makes is the historical detail shown above the loading bar. Once the fist patrol is finished I can select the character from the drop down list in SH3Comm and then repeat the above. I have never had any problems with picking up a career from where I left it. Hope this helps. ![]() Now, I am no mod expert but could these problems have something to do with additionals mods installed competing with SH3Comm, etc? |

Ok, simple question in the same vein:
Do I start the game from SH3 Commander every time, or do I only use it to start my career and then load it every now and then to award my crew medals, etc.? Should I be checking it before each mission? Also, does SH3 Commander do anything to crew fatigue? Since I installed it my crew members do not recover from fatigue when rested.

Start SH3 from SH3Comm everytime.
If you check out the readme it explains the variation on crew fatigue used in RUB; now it is more a case of combat stess. Personally I prefer the RUB system, but its a personal choice kind of thing. |

If anyone here can think of a better way of writing the readme file, please show us your ideas, because frankly I'm stumped. I think maybe I'm too close to the problem, and it probably needs the more realistic perspective of a person who knows SH3 Commander purely as a user of the program.
