Default Building an SH3 rig

Finally got back onto the forum !! Anyway I still love SH3 with GWX and all the other mods after all these years. Tried sh5 years back but it was just so unfinished .

Anyway my question. I've had a noisy SH3 rig for the last 5 years with a dual fan gt430 card.

I just want to rebuild it as a quieter PC which uses less power .

So what components/ideas would you all recommend .

Happy hunting !

Why?

Because from that thread every tool, every big-mod and every download is linked. Just follow the links provided there, you will stumble across more than 100 GB of files to try out...

From there... good luck
But does it tell him which PC components to purchase to satisfy his request?

Most modern computers will run SH3 without many issues. The only contingency I've seen that you would need to be aware of, if getting a new PC, is that you want more than 4gb of RAM. Beyond that, I don't believe today's components will struggle running a 10 year old game!

On second thought, really budget laptops may struggle with all of the mods, but a decent laptop or a cheap desktop should handle it pretty well.

I'm personally running SH3 with 6GB of RAM on a PC I bought in 2010.
The only 'upgrade' was buying a videocard back in ....2012.

I'll post the specs if anyone is interested when I get home tonight.

I'm running it on 8Gb of RAM and a Radeon R270X graphics card which is nice and quiet. The card has a 3Gb cache itself and built in fans which can be adjusted however you like so noise can be lowered as required.

Even if you have more than 4Gb of RAM you'll still need the 4Gb patch to "unlock" it all tho.

Edit: Heres the link to the 4Gb patch

If you want to upgrade or build your own system, the site I use is:
https://pcpartpicker.com/

One of the things I like about the site is it tells you if there is an Compatibility Check. It helps veteran as well as new builders make sure that the system works as intended.

back in the 90s I always used to build my own PCs but havent since then and have lost touch with the building community.

I bought my present (pre-built) PC in 2010 and whilst it has run SH3 well its noisier than a 747 taking off. i intend to rebuild it with quieter components, not looking for more performsnce.

current specs Intel i3, 4GB , GT430
