Default Edgar Froese passed away

I wonder if anybody knows who he was?

There were two all so dominant and major influences on German electronic music in the 70s/80s, and both projected their infpuence far beyond Germany and internationally, too. The one was Kraftwerk, the other was Tangerine Dream. And Edgar Froese was the founder of Tangerine Dream.

That band had an influence on my musical taste in my youth more than Kraftwerk. Vangelis, Tangerine Dream, Jarre - pioneers in what they were doing, hard to overestimate their importance. Well, we all do not become younger. Froese was 70.

I heard this on the radio this morning. "Phaedra" was one of the first albums I ever owned and, as you suggest, VERY important and seminal music. I've often thought I ought to try and get it on CD sometime: I loved it.

100 studio and live album releases - wowh.

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/ne...-dead-20150124

71 are studio albums, I read on another site.

10 million albums sold in total.

By far not all they did was good. But those albums and pieces they became most known for, indeed are icons of the genre that defined form and style of electornic music and influenced music far beyond the genre.
