The game doesn't show version numbers? How can I tell which version I have? Thanks.

You will not see the version number. Just to make sure you can download the patch from the official site.

It downloads and unzips fine for me (on openSUSE Linux 12.3). For comparison, file size is 583111 bytes. MD5 sum is as follows:
