Default Alpha Protocol

Anyone here play Alpha Protocol?

I picked it up last week. It was always one of those games that looked interesting, but I never seemed to buy it. Well I am glad I did.

It is an espionage RPG as long as you define espionage as secret agent killing people and blowing up stuff.

While the missions are set, the game prides itself that there are many ways to accomplish the missions.

I like the way you can specialize skills. I always tend to lean toward sneaking and sniping so the stealth specialization was attractive.

The programmers claim that there are no bad decisions in the game but all decisions affect future game events significantly.

The re-playability seems nice. I am on my third time. As long as you try different ways and do the missions in different orders, the game replays nicely.

Anyone else checked out this game?

Yep, nice RPG, clunky controls though. But the flaws in the control scheme don't really detract from the experience, which I'd say is pretty solid.

Quite liked the different "stances" you can take in conversations. Friendly, aggressive, professional etc. The new Deus Ex does something similar in some cases (that CASIE augment).

Too bad so much is left unresolved though (found that Sis character fairly intriguing, they never really take it anywhere), and they already scrapped plans for a sequel ages ago.

As Arclight said, clunky controls but that doesn't ruin the game. The game itself is great in my opinion. The story is quite basic but the essence of the game lays in the dialoque. You can truly change the story and that's what makes the game great in the end. If they had made the sequel, fixed a few flaws, I've no noubt it would've been superb.

I grabbed this for free during a PC World online promotion months ago but never downloaded it. Maybe it's time to give it a go...

The game cost me 30 euros and I don't regret buying it. So I definitely recommend to give it a go!

It is too bad that they won't produce a sequel or even additional missions.

Started playing this the other day.

I am surprised at how good this game is. My only complaint is the hacking mini game. Other then that, it's like some sleeper hit of a game. I't kinda reminds me of a mix of Deus Ex , Mass Effect, with a pinch of project IGI without the annoyances thrown in.

I grabbed it free then too, along with a few other games, it's installed but it's way down on the 'to play' list. Only another 30 years till I retire, then I'll work my way through the list.

Also, a hint of Metal Gear.

It's a fine game, bit troubled but worth your time none the less. Of course, the "popular" review sites tore it a new one, so nobody really knows or cares about it. Some places actually gave it a fair review, but no one reads reviews that are actually worth reading.

I bought it on sale from Steam for $2.00, looking forward to trying it. But I'm dreading the 11 GB download!
