Question about installing mods in SH3 GWX with the JSGME installer?
When you copy or move a mod folder to the Mod folder in SH3 and they contain a readme or some options folder in the folder can you go ahead and install the mod will just the data folder be installed? I have been delete those options folders and readme. Is that necessary? Thanks for any info. Lane ![]() |

Any Readme's will be copied into the root GWX directory but will have no effect on the game.
Whenever I use other modders mods I create a 'documentation' folder next to the 'data' folder and drop any Readmes into it (having renamed them with the name of the mod, e.g. 'TDW's fire damage Readme'). That means that all Readmes are in a documentation folder in the root directory.

The way to set up Mods for JSGME is clearly documented.
Problem is that many do sub folders and garbage like that. They clearly think they are above following standards and thus thier mods are a PITA for new people. Or they are to freaking lazy to bother with makeing things easy. ![]() I avoid anything that is not TOTALLY JSGME ready. |

I do the same thing, I keep the original mod folders on a separate drive and when I copy them into the game's MODS folder I delete anything extraneous before enabling them. That way if I want to refer to the documentation I don't even have to touch the game folder to get to it.

An example..........
You create a Mod and make a folder for it. It follows all folders for SH3 or whatever. You have optionals for that mod. Those should extract as seperate Mods! But NO!! Some people place them as a total screwup that takes days to figure out, countless posts that only run up post counts, and totally confound new users. Those that do that? Abuse the Tools for thier own Glory. "Look at me!! I'm so cool I don't need to follow simple rules!" |
