I save a game while at sea,but when I start the game later,it has me back in port!Frustrating to say the least any ideas,help,please!

On the launcher, there is a small setting icon at top right corner. Clicking on that you have the option to save the game local, less chance for corrupted save games.

since ubi dropped the online drm connection requirement, my guess is online saves is dropped as well
untill we know for sure you should do all saves as "local" |

There is always a chance of a corrupted save file. I make sure my save is "solid" by checking it's size before I quite the game. A good save is always a little more than seven megabytes; bad saves are only about 600+ kilobytes.
