Default Unistall problems

I'm trying to uninstall SH5 and am running into a problem.

The uninstall does not highlight in the game menu when running the disk and I am receiving this error message when I try to do it htrough the control panel

Feature:Silent Hunter 5
Component:
File: C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter
5:\data\LngGameData\DetectionTool\FR\
Error: Access is denied

Any clues as to where I'm going wrong?

Thanks in advance

If you happen to be using W7/Vista it could very well be a the "local.dll" gone renegade. I suppose. Not using any of the aforementioned myself but through my days I've seen and heard enough about rouge systems.

Do you get the same type of message if you try to delete it manually as well?

see if it will let you reinstall/repair sometimes that fixes missing or corrupted files.

also uninstall all mods and remove jsgme before uninstalling the game

I've deleted all mods and jsgme, still no joy, now coming up with this error

Feature:Silent Hunter 5
Component:
File: C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter
5:\data\LngGameData\DetectionTool\ES\local.dll
Error: Access is denied

It's annoying me now, I want rid! LOL

you can also try this, open the filepath to \local.dll and right click on that dll file then select "properties" at the bottom of the window that opens you will see "attributes" and if you see the box "read only" checked then uncheck it and that should allow access to that file

I can now neither install/uninstall or play SH5?

I'm at a loss!

If I try to install, it tells me I have a newer version already installed and to remove it first (obviously I can't)

It doesn't highlight the option to let me play it either.

Any help appreciated.

open up your main directory files and simply delete the ubisoft folder then reinstall the game and anything leftover should be fixed or replaced

did you first reboot the computer so nothing is still running in the background, because most likely the internet connection exe is blocking you even thou the games not running so after rebooting, before doing anything else delete the files
