Campaign won't load

I'm finished with SH5 if this doesn't get fixed.

Ever since I started the Mediterranean campaign, I've had trouble with savedgames occasionally crashing to desktop upon load. Usually I had to revert to the last previous autosave.

Now BOTH my campaign save file AND the autosave crash to desktop on load. I've essentially lost all campaign progress.

I play this game for the campaign, not multiplayer or single missions, so if this can't be fixed I am putting this game back on the shelf unfortunately. It's too bad because I was actually having fun despite the unfinished state of the product. This is a gamebreaker, though. Does anyone know a fix for this?

(I have seen *some* others, but not all, encounter similiar campaign loading troubles, which leads me to think it's likely an OS or maybe hardware issue. I'm running Vista. Is that any help?)
