Default fuel economy

I need help with fuel economy. I am using an IXD2 & the fuel economy mod without any results. I have checked the configs against the mod & the game. Someone said that he knows of a conflict that is between it & a crash depth mod. Does anyone know of this mod & can help me get satisfactory fuel economy. I need help please.

How far can you make it? When i use a type IXB I set my speed so I get the most fuel efficient distance I can, usually at least 30000km (VIIB can make 30k)

As you can see by my next patrol, even a VIIB can make it 30000km.
Surly a IXB can go at least 45000km

with the speed-setting to "ahead one third" (= "ein drittel Fahrt voraus" or "Langsame Fahrt" on the dial) you'll get the best results, IMO.
the speed then ranges from 6-8knots depending on wheather conditions.

You running vanilla? Vanilla has a problem when it comes to fuel consumption, in that they used realistic amount of fuel per sub, but they also use a flat map to calculate the distances. Where as in real life... the Earth is round thus not everywhere on the globe is equal to the distance at the equator.

GWX, countered this by giving each sub more fuel....

Sounds like you should think about dumping the fuel economy mod.
My IXBs (stock fuel) never had a problem with range.

You didn't buy an "engine upgrade", did you?
THAT will kill your fuel economy, big time.
(Besides, the increased performance is not historicaly realistic.)

I have a question regarding GWX fuel economy.

For instance I am driving a Type IIa if I order Ahead Standard is that going to give me the best speed/economy as it should (similar to TM in SHIV) or do I have to set speed manually?

I can't remember the best speed for a Type IIA.
Do a bit of experimenting, asking your Nav Officer for ranges at different speeds.

I simply use the telegraph instead of setting the speed manually.

Best speed in GWX is 1/3, or Langsemere Fahrt Voraus (next to slowest). OM in SH4 also uses Standard, and that's not the way they did it.

Ah so the U-Boats didn't have Ahead Standard as......*ahem* Standard Cruising speed. Ok that does help, I'll use A.S for the Canal and 2/3 or 1/3 until I get to my patrol grid.
