please sort out the day/night times!!

This sub sim is amazing BUT...i live here in Malaysia and let me assure you that because of the equator the time of day and night is pretty much the same every day and every month of the year as it is in most of the asian region here to within an hour or two.

so can someone please alter the times so sun up is around 6am and sun down is around 7pm. sailing around Borneo and 10pm and the sun is still shining!! not realistic...is this possible to be changed?

No the game is set up to be realistic. In the war, the important thing was the time of the higher ranking officers on the base, not the lower life forms in the people tank. In the military, rank has its privileges. Among them is the right to tell your subordinates what time it is!

Operations/communications are done using Pearl time (GMT -10), boat routines (meals, wakey wakey, etc...) are done using local clocks... been there, done that and lost the sleep numerous times in 25+ years in the navy....

. There is a 6 hour difference from Pearl to Far East...

i mean come on, whats with all the blocks sticking out along straight lines?

and i love the blocks within the blocks that must have a different time than everything around them????

Yeah I never understood the blocks within the blocks either. I know they are -+30mins or 15mins, but really time of day is relative to the position of the sun in relation to the horizon. How could the time possibly be 30mins ahead or behind like that?

But then of course it all makes sense when you see the answer is more likely than not...politicians.

As a matter of fact they do, the ones in the blocks are either 1/2 hour ahead or behind the zone time. IIRC, India is +5 1/2 not 5...

as for the bent lines, they encompass island groups or areas to keep them consistent within a geographical area. If you were to use strictly longitude as the seperator then you would change time zones every 15 degrees.. that would suck if your home was at 75 degrees west and your neighbour down the street was one hour behind because he is at 75 degrees 1 minute 1 second west

Excellent point. That's part of the complaint: SH3 had base time and local time. Why not SH4?

My bad..

, I was assuming (I know, never assume....

) that bond672 was asking/wondering if it could be made to be local time... never really noticed the time in SH3... for that matter, I never really paid attention to the clocks when I was at sea either.. when your 1 in 2 watch you can tell if its day or night by what food you get fed when you roll out of your pit.... morning watch (bacon,eggs,pancakes), evening watch (steak,pork chops, potatoes)

Well, if you go to the North Pole during the winter months it stays dark day and night.....in the game, so at least there it's timed right.

Its set for base time because in my limited experience with the military they tend to use one time for reporting, to eliminate confusion. Modern day its UTC or "Zulu" time.

As for whether you could modify it, I am sure the skilled modders the community has could. Just a matter if its that much of an issue to do so...
