[REL] tench class mod with midway base start option

here is the tench class mod its jsgme ready its been reconfigured to start at midway island not pearl harbor you can also select the tench class by selecting the year 1945 good luck and good hunting. I also want to thank vickers and peabody and webster and ducimus for all there help i know i was a little impatient and i apologize for that this was pretty important to me now i can sit back and enjoy sh4 like it was meant to be

webster im getting terrible time compression im getting ctd's eveywhere i think i did something wrong can you check this mod out and tell me what i did wrong and help me fix it because the game just keeps on freezing and at high time compression the game is slow as molasses

Is it doing it near Midway or everywhere? Midway and Pearl Harbor are noted for stuttering even on some of the better computers. Terrible on slower computers, almost unplayable.

What other MODs do you have installed?

hey peabody it was near the coast of japan and it would have taken me like 4 hours to reach midway thats how slow it was and then it ctd i only had that mod installed along with killer boat mod and when i reinstalled the original tench class mod there was no problems so my mod was all messed up if you dont mind can you make this mod so i can start at midway i know its alot of work but for me then the game would be complete and i would be be very happy if you would do that for me

well in stock i ran into some "huge" task forces around tokyo so maybe it was something like that overwhelmed your system.


can you give more details? how can we reproduce or test the same situation?

is it only in campaign mode or single missions too?

is it doing it anytime all the time or when something happens?

does it work ok in normal time before the ctd?

have you checked your computer for overheating, fan failures or anything like that?



as for asking peabody to just do the mod for you:

i know its easier to ask others to do it for you but how then will you ever learn that way?

im sure he wouldnt mind helping you but if peabody "shows" you where something is messed up instead of just fixing it for you, then you will learn and understand why it wasnt working and the next combo mod you have trouble with will be easier to fix it yourself without needing any help.

update: i ran your mod by itself with the stock v1.5 game and had no issues at all

i played a career and went to tokyo in and out of time compression and i sank a few ships there then went kamikazi on the surface fighting DD's lol

i tried 2 single missions too and found no problems with anything at all.

it could be a mod "combination" thing going on or just your game is corrupted so check that out.

I think some of Websters ideas are very good. I also ran a mission, completed the Patrol, engaged a convoy, destoyed the convoy, fired all torpedos, used the deckgun to engage the remaining merchants. Returned to Midway, no problems encountered. (on easy, autotargeting, just to test)

I had stuttering leaving Midway (my graphics card is "bordeline") Had some hesitation when encountering traffic near Japan.

If you are getting a CTD near Japan it is probably not your MOD. It could be overheating as Webster stated, or maybe your machine just isn't up to the task.

Try leaving Midway and go North or East away from traffic to see if you have any problems.

Turn down your graphics to see if you have problems.

Keep notes: Date, mission (be specific, not "near Japan". Exactly what the mission was Partol area, photo Tokyo harboe etc.) Tell us where you have the TC problems. There are a lot of ships between Midway and Tokyo both US and JP. Every time you meet a ship it will drop your TC and you have to boost it up again. Also the stock game give a lot of messages, they will drop you to x1 TC also. If you give specific details it may be one of the missions is the problem (although I don't think so). Tell us what specifically is going on when you CTD. When your TC drops zoom in to see if you just encounterd a large convoy or Task Force and then CTD. Or are you in the middle of nowhere when you CTD.

I don't see any problems with the Campaign as written.

i was in the middile of nowhere and nothing in site i have the most up to date system i have a nvidia 9800 gt and i have 3 gigs of ram as we speak i have enough to even handle sh5 as the devs said i exceed the maximum requirements i will re try the mod and see what happens but there was nothing in site at all. Thats what i also thought maybe a task force but nothing was there so you looked at my mod and there was no errors in the mod that you saw

I installed the MOD as Webster did and sailed the the mission location (south of Japan a bit) and engaged a Convoy and had no problems. A few slowdown but like I said my video card is borderline. If you are having CTDs while on a mission I don't think it would be your MOD. Your MOD assigns the sub, the homebase and where the mission is. So if you enter port, have the right sub, and get assigned a mission there is something else wrong.

You made changes to the Career Start and the Flotillas, so usually if this is done wrong, you will CTD before you can even go on a mission or you CTD on a transfer. NOT 'in the middle of a mission'.

Like Webster said check for overheating or possibly a corrupt SH4 install. You may have corrupted your game with the mods. Check freespace on your drive, defrag, all that stuff.

i have a quad core with 4gb 1066 ram and a 8800gt with 512mb of video ram so my system will not show a strain on the system as lesser computer specs would but at least i think its safe to say its not a file error of the mod itself.

what are your specs Lt commander lare?

32 bit operating system
windows vista

give me till tomorrow and im going to uninstall the game and restart all together i will have a progress report soon

i have reinstalled the game but the only problem now is the external view i cant even catch up to the sub on the surface becuase when you go to move forward its to slow you cant even see the sub up close now what could be causing this issue the only thing i did was replace the camera.dat file in the library folder for the conning tower buttons to appear in the conning tower

i figured it out it was the camera.dat file but i dont know how to make the speed faster in the external view cam becuase its to slow the way it is right now

your specs look fine, you should have no issues with that setup


were you using a stock cameras.dat file before?

in my mods i have it set faster than stock so maybe thats what you noticed, what mods are you using if any?


also i assume you know you have 2 speeds slow and run, to run you hold down the shift key then use the arrows
