Default The F---!!!! moments thread

Share your moments during your gaming sessions when you've been just this close to throwing your monitor thru the window.

Ok, not much lately, but had one in Tiger Vs. T-34. The mission was to counter Soviet tank attack. It all went great, I had a nice little spot from where to take down the enemy tanks with my Tiger. Suddenly an Su85 rolled from the forest and as a commander I pointed the tank to my gunner and what does he do? Target some fricking lowlife infantry guy 300m from the SU85! KABOOM and there goes my Tiger!

Not doing much gaming on the PC at the moment but here's a couple from my PS3. Others will know what I mean.

**** A) Killzone 2 - Beating Radec in Visari Palace, without dieing on an elite playthrough. (I actually did break my DualShock during this. It's insanely difficult)

**** B) Beating Zico's Time in Wipeout HD. <- Still not done it.

Your freaky pussy disturbs me.

Well that's one I wrote about a long time ago.

Then ofcourse, anytime you fly a mission in IL-2 and all is going great, you're about to win a dogfight when an enemy fires a lucky burst that ofcourse hits your pilot and you dies...

Many times in TF2, when being killed by a frontstab.

Many many many times in L4D when I only get to play Hunter again and again and again and again...

That's an easy one for me. One mission of X-Wing was giving me all kinds of grief. I can't remember all the details but you had to take out a bunch of Tie bombers before they could destroy any of your corvettes and of course Tie Fighters and Interceptors would appear to make things more difficult. Quite an involved mission with you scooting around here and there as new threats appeared. Finally after about 10 attempts, I destroyed the last enemy bomber but my front shields where pretty low and some debris crashed in to me and that was it. Kaboom! AAARRGGHHHH!!!!! I was close to putting my fist through the monitor that day I'll tell you. I think it took me 3 days before I tried that mission again and for whatever reason got it on the first try.

I remember plenty of those frustrating moments when playing the original version of "Elite"! I would build up my ship to the max, ECM, plenty of missles, etc. Have a tough fight with the bad guys, barely survive, and I head for the space station. Take a few attempts at lining up with the entrance, then would have to back off because some ship would be leaving! Finally make my run at getting in, when I am almost in, BAM!!! I get hit by some frickin' ship leaving which destroys my ship!! All that work for nothing, lol

Flying back to base after succesfull mission and dying in a silly landing accident.

Applies to any combat flight sim, but most recently Black Shark.

That's not frustrating, that's mandatory...

Mine was in EVE Online about 2 years ago, my corporation just managed to narrowly escape the fall of our old alliance in a massive war and joined another alliance in the hope of getting a more profitable and less enemy-dreadnought-fleet-behind-every-asteroid sort of existence. Now, this was before every major alliance had access to multiple Jump Portals Generators and the only Titans that existed were so rare and expensive that you never actually saw any of them doing anything useful, so everyone had to haul their own stuff across the ~40 jumps required to get to the Alliance's space (Except whatever was carried by available carriers).

We were just about to arrange a move when our new alliance fell into a major war (Those seemed to follow my corporations wherever it went), and the whole thing got completely messed up. So I took my rather expensive battleship (When those things actually were expensive), fit it with warp core stabilizers just to make sure I have some chance to escape if they found me and waited for Alliance chat to say the route is clear. Unfortunately just when I was clearing the most dangerous area a group of 2 enemy Heavy Assault Cruisers decided to come in and tear my expensive battleship (My most valuable possession) apart (Of course the warp core stabilizers failed to save me). I managed to reach Alliance space 3 hours later in a shuttle, but without any useful property and not much money, and I couldn't do anything for quite some time considering deep space is rather dangerous unless you have a big ship...

This, normally, would be rather depressing if you couldn't pay for a new ship, but it was even more depressing considering one of the people who killed me was a former member of the corporation I was in and who I knew quite well. I vowed vengeance, but I never got it.

Playing "Extreme Warfare Revenge" which is a cool freeware wrestling promotion management sim. My promotion was on the virge of going under due to poor attendance at my shows and because a good portion of my great talent suddenly ditched me leaving me with wrestlers that most people didn't care about.
I finally signed "Kurgan" who had just been let go from the WWF. Being a former WWF star, he was quite the draw for my promotion and I immediately built up plotlines where he decimated his way through all the wrestlers in my promotion until he was to finally face my popular world champion. The audiences seemed to LOVE the angle with him and I gained this huge following making Kurgan and his quest of destruction the focus of my shows.

Everything was great ! Approval ratings were soaring ! I was making boatloads of cash for my promotion !! So I decided to blow a large amount of money on having a HUGE show with Kurgan fighting my current champion for the title !!!
The day of the big event, Kurgan got in a car accident or something and was put out of action for a year ! Needless to say.. I had to rewrite my script for that entire show because of that because Kurgan's quest was the main focus.
The audience was PISSED when they didn't get their match. Approval ratings plummeted. Ticket sales plummeted. I got complaints in my (in game) email from the owners that we were losing money !!!! My promotion almost went under in a matter of 2 months because of that fiasco.

When you're playing Mirror's Edge and you get really far from a checkpoint, jump... then miss the ledge and fall to your death. Every time. I very nearly threw my mouse across the kitchen...
Also applies to Tomb Raider.

I remember crashing out on the final lap on the last corner at Silverstone in rFactor using the GP79 mod. That last chicane before the start/finish straight is not forgiving if you go into it too aggressively.

It was kind of a Dick Dastardly moment, so close.

But it was my mistake.

Ugh, that reminds me... getting you're licenses on Gran Turismo. Especially trying to get everything gold for the bonus car.

Putting in a performance like you never did before, and aren't likely to repeat anytime soon, but coming in 0.001 second late.
