Changing the torpedo text?

I was trying to change the text that shows up when you click on a torpedo in the boat or base. It bugs the bejeezus out of me that the range is given in meters, so I was trying to fix that, and add warhead info too. I found the entry in the menu file, but after changing and saving, I checked it ingame, and the range in meters is still there! And my added warhead info wasn't there at all. I then went through every file I could and couldn't find anywhere else it could be getting the old info. Anybody here have any ideas?

yep, UPCData\UPCLocalization\UPCLocalization.tsr to be more exact. In there you should find what you are looking for.

Okay. That's a file I didn't check because I wasn't sure I could use Notepad on it.

Thanks!

Menu.txt controls what pops up in the tooltips when you mouseover stuff. I didn't even notice that had worked on my first attempt. UPCLocalization.tsr controls what appears in the boxes on the bottom when you actually click an object.

I'm gonna play around with both some more, then likely release my changes as a mod for anyone else who wants it.

Could this possibly be why, if someone plays a fleet sub but selects "metric," he gets the full readout when doing a mousevoer on a torpedo ... but, if someone selects "imperial" or "realistic," he only gets the type of torpedo ... and not the range, etc.?

I wouldn't know. I don't know if I've ever noticed that.
