Does anyone else share my suspicions after reading various reports that some people in the Pakistan government were culpable in this attack?
According to reports the Pakistand team bus that day left 5 minutes later than the Sri Lankan bus, there were 24 armed officers guarding the Sri Lankan bus but they couldn't hit anything and the road from hotel to stadium was lined with armed police yet the terrorists got past them and the police did nothing when it kicked off. I smell a large rat. |

Pakistan is in such turmoil these days I suppose anything is possible....but I'm not convinced it is precisely what your alluding to.
I must admit that despite being a travelling supporter and member of the Barmy Army for many years....I am in full agreement with the measures taken by the whinging cons in boycotting the country. It's a pity more test nations didn't follow their lead. |

The Pakistani government is NOT a monolithic entity controlled from above. I'm sure there's plenty of stuff going on in government agencies that the political leaders know nothing about.
Zardari and company need all the public support they can scrape together. Causing a cricket tour to be canceled is NOT the way to get that support in a cricket-mad country like Pakistan. So I don't think the political leadership in Pakistan were behind the attack. But it's certainly possible that somebody inside the ISI or police was involved. The one thing you can almost always be assured of in Pakistan is that whatever the government, somebody in the ISI is probably plotting against them. Similarly, the police are probably riddled with Al Qaeda types. It's sort of like Al Capone in Prohibition Chicago. Was the Chicago government behind Capone? No. But there were plenty of people in government positions (like the police) who were working with him. |

The hero of the lot was the driver of the bus with the cricketers! If he had stoped the entire team would be dead!
![]() Got to love the footage of the policeman who played possum and pretended to be dead, only to jump back up after it was over with his hands above his head! ![]() |
