Default [FIX] That old absent splashwave on type VIIB solved...

VIIB_splashwave_fix by Rubini

The playable Type VIIB don´t have the bow splashwave and its sound since long time ago, more precisily since when the first AI uboats were introduced for the community. This bug is yet present today even in almost all big mods.
The problem is about few file IDs that aren´t correctly cloned since that early time.

You will notice that in this fix we don´t have any type VIIB file...Why?
Well, as we have a lot of different mods&bigmods that use the playable uboat files i then choose to make the fix on the really correct place: on the AI uboat that have the cloned IDs problems: the AI type VIIC/41.

The standard version on this mod have waterstream on it, but I provided another "NSS_Uboat7c41_NO_waterstream.dap" file that haven´t the water stream if you prefer. Just delete the other .dat and rename this one to "NSS_Uboat7c41.dat".

I also provided a "fix" on the .eqp file that will generate crew on deck when you find this AI uboat sailing. This is aimed to GWX (the type AI IIB/IXB already have crew on deck on GWX).

This mod also fix few problems with Lifeboats&Debris mod, where some AI uboats are showing debris around it. But just for this AI type VIIC/41.

Just as curiosity, I also noticed that others IDs on this Ai uboat are also not well cloned what could bring potential hidden problems here or there...then, in the end, I recloned it enterely.

As a last note: this mod is compatible with any big mod. The users of the stock 1.4b SH3 don´t need it because the stock game don´t have Ai uboats.
If I find the necessary time I will look at the others AI uboats too. The main problem is that to solve some problems you end messing with their sinking behaviour, etc. Ufff!

I still play SH3 (not so much as I did in the past, I must admit ) so I am still interested in everything that improves the game experience. So yes, please, post the files. Thank you.

edit/add: @OLC. AFAIK (I stand to be corrected), he's referring to the bow wave, which IIRC has never worked or worked properly on the VIIB ... you don't get the effect and sound of the bow slapping into the waves the way you do with the other types.

OK. Thanks for the interest, it's good to know that a lot of us are yet playing SH3!
@Reece: yes, I could not resist! SH3 is yet a so good historical "peaceful" war game!
@OLC: it's exactly what bert8for3 explained!

I will post the files as soon as I get back to my house today.

The fix will work for any mod (GW, GWX, Stock, NYGM, WaterStream, etc) because what was corrected is the AI uboat itself - AI type VIIC/41 - (some changes ID's was enough, but I ended with a complete new clone to avoid also some others small problems not so easy to notice all this time). No changes on the type VIIB itself.

I don't know if someone noticed that when using the Lifeboats mod, some AI uboats generate debris (at least in GWX2.1)...this is also fixed.

Thanks, but I'm still confused as to what exactly is missing. I just did a quick training mission in a VIIB. I can see and hear the bow spray, and I can see the bow wake, just like on the other U-boats (as far as I can tell). So, please, what am I not seeing/hearing?

The problem is more easily noticiable with the bow splash spray (it's not present neither have sound) on type VIIB IF you have the AI uboat Type VIIC/41 on your game and it's load by the game (what is true for 90% of the installations since some years - only if you use the stock game you will not have the problem). It's a ID problem.

This is just a thought but have you guys ever considered of grouping together and fixing the last few issues with SH3. Sorta making a unofficial patch?

I know its a hard commitment. But the end results is a big bang to an amazing game.

Just thinking out loud..:hmm:
