G'day Jonsdu9,

Welcome to SubSim. First of all, if you have a question and your thinking of posting to get the answer that your looking for, prior to posting have a go at the search device contained within each forum. I bet the same question has been asked 99 times before.

Get to know the basic game without mods, two reasons, firstly you will get to understand the basics of the game. Secondly by playing at the basic set-up, you will truly admire what some modders have done to the SHIII game when you do start loading up with mods.

Once again welcome and enjoy the world of SHIII.....

Default Take your time.

Welcome aboard, Matey,
Venatore is absolutely right. Play the game without mods but be sure you have the v1.4b update (most of the new DVD's have this already installed).
With some of the mods the navel academy becomes impossible. Be sure to do the exercises; aside from being fun, they will teach you the basics of the game.
After a few weeks, you will need SH3 CMDR and (IMHO) GWX2.1 for starters.

Here is a link to a seafloor mod:

http://files.filefront.com/SH3+Mod+T.../fileinfo.html

Murky Atlantic water can be obtained from this thread:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=132596

The potential problem you face is how to see one because of the other.

Look in the downloads page on the home page. It should with the Real U-boat mod. But then it looks like your sailing through a river in vietnam.
