Default No luck with Pocket BB and mission editor

I'm trying to create a custom mission using the Pocket BB but when i launch SH4 and go to the QUick mission screen, no ships show up in the drop down box and it wont' let me launch.

Any ideas?

Have you tried the steps in this thread:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=130440

If that doesn't work, then perhaps Peabody can help you out, he's created a playable pocket battleship mission, you can find it in the mission designer's forum along with some other excellent missions. Peabody's very helpful, unless you rate his post with one star.

I have to add, that you have to set the unit verision date as high as possible
(this refers to the mission starting date)

Tried the above suggestions - excep for Xantrokoles latest one and they didn't work.

What's the limitation with the unit start date? Why does it need to be as high as possible?

Are you aware that you do NOT use the pocket battleship? You go to subs/german and choose the XVIII Walther U-Boat. That is what the Playable version really is, because the surface ships are not playable so they are building them on subs. If you are familiar with the Mission Editor you will see in the properties that it wasn't available until June 1944. So obviously you can't use a boat before it was built so that is why the start date for a mission has to be so late....it just wasn't available.

If you do make missions, the thread Nisgeis pointed to is very helpful. On the Gato sub for some reason the "Unit Version date" and the "Entry Date" have to be the same or it doesn't work. I don't know why but for that one sub it works that way.

@Nisgeis You still remember the "One Star" thread, huh? And thanks for the compliments, I help when I can same as you did for me!

Do you mean no U-Boat or no surface vessels or both? I haven't done an MP mission yet.

i mean both, information on wich vessel would be selectable for mp missions must be stored somwhere, hope that this isnt harcoded...

I do believe that the problem here is that the Panzerschiff itself becomed available only in 1944/06/01, I managed to get it to work (Without adding a submarine instead of it) by just modifying the upcge file

Peabody - I was actually wondering about that since adding the sub was what I originally intended to do. But in the mission editor, unders subs I see the Admiral Scheer listed so I picked that one instead.

I haven't played any other versions of the game, so I'm am not familiar with German boats, is the Panzerschiff the ship or the sub?

And if it's an easy fix, maybe it could be added? It would make it easier on the ones trying to do missions. I know I made the same mistake that lancerr did, I just opened one of included missions and saw that he used the sub, that's how I found out not to use the Pocket BB.

creating a single or multi player mission with the Pocket BB isnt my problem, just save it as mp mission and copy it to the mp mission path and so on, but...

...by creating a mp session, you have to select witch boat you want to sail with. Problem is, you can only select US subs.

Information on witch boat is selectable in a mp session must be stored somewhere, but where ? :hmm:
