Default Extrememly loud engine and wave noises

Ever since I installed a fresh copy of SHIV, my engine and wave noises are very loud and far exceed any other noises in the game. Even if I reduce the noise level bar. Has anyone else experienced this? This even happens in stock. Any suggestions on fixing it? Thanks.

I should also note that the two installs that I do have are in newly named folders directly under Program Files. I no longer have an "\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter..." folder. So, if I install a fresh 1.5 copy into an Ubisoft directory and use it as the back-up, what file should I copy over to the other two installs to fix this volume issue? Thanks.

I ran a JSGME file comparison with the US installation completely unmodded and it still detected several hundred new files. Two of which are SoundEdit.act and Sound.act. I think I'll just uninstall everything and start from scratch.

You could always go into Sound Recorder and turn these sounds down manually. This is also helpful if you want to tweak other stuff as well.

It thought about doing that, too. I really need to have a clean back-up copy of the game, though. I also figured out that the huge list of file differences is because I moved all of the files into a new directory after running the JSGME comparison routine. One more reason for a new install.

I don't have an extreme sound inbalance in the stock game. I run the voice slider louder than the others and adjust the main volume accordingly.

I installed three new 1.5 versions on my machine: Main Back-Up, Copy 1, which is my German version, and Copy 2, which is my US version. I tried the two copies in stock layout playing both US and German on each and I noticed that engine and wave noises are not affected at all by the Sound nor the Master Volume sliders in the SHIV menu. I can completely turn them off by unchecking the Sound check box, but that is it.

I thought under 1.4 that engine and wave noises could be adjusted by these sliders. Maybe this is a 1.5 bug?

I also uninstalled and reinstalled my sound driver, thinking that maybe it had a bug, but that didn't change anything.

Loading sound mods doesn't seem to affect it, either.

When I run TC around 1024 on the map view, I start hearing crackling noises out of the speakers, as well.

Update:

I was thinking that maybe it's due to having multiple installs. I don't remember running into this issue with a single install before. I followed the MultiSH4 directions, though. So, I'm not sure what the deal is.
